Sometimes edge is not wanted or needed. This is a lesson I learned the hard way. Last summer I got to direct the local amateur playhouse`s Spring Show which for that year "The Glass Menagerie" was chosen. Thinking it was "too safe" I changed the character of Jim O`Connor to be a Nazi hunter in his spare time. Before the events of the play I re-imagined him traveling to Argentina and hunting down Nazis who escaped there after the war. It was all going well until the estate of Tennessee Williams ordered it shut down.
So we had to do `Love Letters". Again.
