This should be interesting

For the ones saying it’s experimental.

Well la dee da. I'm sorry, but it's still a human experiment. I'll take my chances with the horse boner pills - I hear from my mechanic they work.

Side effect - your cantering has really improved. Very regal.

Thank you. Only downside - I'm getting called into HR a lot. I keep telling other employees it's not them, it's the medicine, but apparently that's not good enough for Gary in Shipping or Dakota in Accounts Payable.

I’m so over this, man.

Which part? ;) What I like is that there are two equally pissed off groups at this point...
-One group is pissed off about having to wear masks because they are sick of them and don't care about the consequences.
-The other is pissed off because one group doesn't care about the consequences so we consequently have to wear masks to be safe.

Yeah, it's not great news, but you could see it coming. Look for the protests to start up again as well.
BC always seems the most eager to not be doing this. Had they just left the masks on for the summer they wouldn't have had to bring them back. They were the last ones to start wearing them last year. Henry was at a damn Lions game taking pics with people maskless not even a week ago. The messaging is all over the place, contradictory, doesn't follow any science.

The protests are dumb but fuck do they do everything they can to encourage them with this shit.

Our nurse friend who works at Abbotsford General was telling us last night about how low the morale is with health care providers. At the beginning of covid they felt helplessness and desperate to do everything possible to save their patients who contracted covid through no fault of their own in the vast majority of cases.

Now they have unvaccinated combative assholes showing up at emergency who have a sense of entitlement and still act like covid doesnt exist even though they have it. She told us a story about one guy who they kept telling to turn over and start laying on his stomach because his lungs were filled with fluid but he just wouldnt do it and he only complied after one nurse ripped open a curtain to show the patient next to him intubated and said "you're going to end up like this if you dont"

One guy died and his family would not accept he died of covid and got into arguments with the doctors about what the cause of death would be on the death certificate :L.

More and more, all I can think is that it is culling the gene pool.

ER doc friend of mine...
""I'm allergic to metal, I don't have time, I don't trust it, I don't like eggs, I don't want the microchip, I don't go anywhere, fake news..." Then stop wearing a chin diaper, getting sick and bombarding the ER. It's pretty rich that folks are now using sham data from Iran to justify not getting vaccinated. For all those concerned about side effects- I've not admitted a single one; But I have seen patients in their 40's otherwise healthy have large arterial occlusions and require a carotid endarterectomy, thrombolysis, chronic hypoxia, need long term anti-coagulation from Covid. Those numbers don't get reported on fatalities. I'm back to seeing 4+ covid a day now, and no there is still no effective treatment for your severe headaches, cough, chest pain, insomnia, body aches, fevers... Sorry for the rant, perhaps I'm working too much"

Doctors aren't to be trusted. Election officials can't be trusted. Don't trust teachers. Don't trust government officials. Don't listen to public health experts. DO listen to "journalists" who have defended themselves in court by arguing nobody should take them seriously.

Just at everything. I really thought the vaccines would be enough. Thought by fall the world would look normal again.

Like Dash said it's not surprising at this point given where things have been heading but this is starting to feel permanent and that's a god-awful world to live in.

Yeah, I feel ya. All of us doing all the right things to help everyone else are probably sick of it. I'll keep doing them because I feel an obligation to protect others and because honestly it's not that big of a deal to were a mask.

The true thing that is emotionally scarring here is the decay of socially normative behavior. We all may have had little moments of judgement of others in the past - bad drivers, music blasting on a bus, 400 lb people with exposed midriffs, or whatever it might be. But by and large they didn't impact us and they were only in passing occasionally. Now those judgements and social pressures are constant. We are frequently uncertain how to feel and act. And while the health risks to ourselves and those close to us are real threats, I'd argue that the emotional stress of the pandemic has been the biggest impact for most.

Do people run red lights? Do they just leave a shopping cart wherever the fuck? Sure they do. But we understood clearly those are bad behaviors, few people did them, and we pretty universally frowned on them in action. Now that normative behavior is unclear, it changes with the type of place, geography, and socio-economic factors. That is stressful and anxiety inducing, especially when the barriers of conforming to "good" behavior seem so low.

Hang in there, people. It will end at some point. ...Or we'll all be dead and no more stress! :)
