US CDC says if you're fully vaccinated you can ditch the mask and I'm seeing a lot of American "YAY NO MORE MASK!" stuff online which is interesting since 65% of the country still isn't fully vaccinated lol

Stupid never stopped us before. It won't stop us now.

It's really short sighted the CDC is announcing this. It's great if the science is saying transmission is not risky for the vaccinated, but with so many still not vaccinated and knowing human behavior, you have to consider that in your decision making and announcements.

They could have set a target date and a target percentage to motivate people to get vaccinated. It's an opportunity missed and it wouldn't surprise me if variants and opening up too fast caused another surge or weakened the long-term effectiveness of the vaccines. We are so impatient to return to "normal" that we are not focused on ensuring the problem is solved first. It's backwards thinking to appease a largely childish and stupid country incapable of placing long-term consequences ahead of short-term needs.

Actually, it's very clever forward-thinking. Now that the anti-vaxxers realize that vaccinated people won't be wearing masks, they'll start wearing them to protect themselves from the "very real" threat of spike proteins being emitted by vaccinated people.

If you have kids in bc youre probably hearing the “rumours” they will be vaccinating kids grade 7 and up in june at their schools .... although the logistics have been panned even though it may seem easier to vaccinate everybody all together as theyre already at school than try and get kids to go to clinics (cant have these mobile operations at multiple schools daily without danger of wasted doses i suppose )

The recommendation (not approval) today will push planning forward
