It still blows my mind that we had international travel closed and then just re-opened it without any fanfare while the virus was still raging in so many places. Those people then hop on domestic flights to their final destinations and spread it everywhere.

At the very least, once these variants exploded it should've been shut down again. Probably would've prevented what's happening now.

I mean, maybe it just looks bad because the US is doing so well with their vaccination rollout, but looking at the numbers, Canada is doing okay.

Some stats I’d like to know:

- Ontario has 40% of Canada’s population. Are they receiving a 40% share of the supply?

- I’ve read a lot about Ontario keeping more vaccine in freezers than they need to. Is this indeed the case and if so what’s the cause, saving it for second doses or sending it to municipalities where smaller percentages of the population are lining up/making appointments to get it? A big thing in the states right now is rural areas seeing much lower vaccination rates since people there tend to not see themselves as those closer to population centers. If vaccines are in those places going unused it’s on the province to relocate them to hot spots.

-what’s the vaccination rate in hot spots? The province has identified postal codes with higher hospital admissions and positive tests. Are people getting the shit there under the strategy to flood those areas with vaccinations regardless of age? Why or why not?

But I do have to say that even if any of the above is going wrong and falls on the province there’s probably at least something to the idea that vaccine distribution by the feds has been misguided given than Trudeau is actively out there trying to divert shots to Ontario.

I'm sure you've heard that they're now saying that getting one vaccine dose on board can give someone up to 6 months of coverage, thus to me it makes the most sense to distribute the vaccine doses to the areas that need it most (hotspots, densely populated areas, and those with co-morbidities).

Yup, and BC were the first to do that and now I (mid-30s) might be eligible for a shot by the end of the month. I'll take it.
