Bears release Kahlil Bell.

Always liked that kid....Bears never really gave him an opportunity to move into that 2nd string back, and I gotta admit, I thought they coulda/should a few times...they overpayed for Chester Taylor, that's for sure.

At least he'll get a shot to play somewhere....somebody'll scoop him up quickly.

Is Martz still here? The last two seasons we didn't start moving the ball until an effort was made to establish the run. Running the ball on 20% of the plays isn't going to work. I know the O-line isn't very good but when you make an effort to establish the run, o-line plays much different. This has been shown the last two seasons. When this team runs the ball and uses play-action off of it, it is a much better team and the NFC north is too good to wait until the 6th week to figure this out again. I just don't understand it.

Oh, and Kellen Davis is dogshit, it still kills me that they thought he could replace Olsen.

Well, that was a little discouraging. I won't read too much into it, as it is still preseason, but it appears our O-line hasn't improved at all. They are pretty much the only liability on this team. But, considering that it all starts in the trenches, it is a pretty dang big liability...Their run-blocking was non-existent, and their pass-blocking wasn't much better. Cutler's ability to move, saved at least a handful of would-be sacks. J'Marcus Webb, is the worst starting LT in the league. I hope they improve. Last season, they were playing pretty decent right before Cutty went down (at least run-blocking). They appear to have taken a step back. Giants were without JPP, and also sans their starting LT, and we did not so much as graze Eli.

Having said all that...Brandon Marshall is just awesome. Dude is so strong. Awesome pickup in the offseason, and already the best WR for the Bears, in their longstanding history. I can't remember being as excited about a Bears offense. By far, the best skill position players on one Bears team in my lifetime. Hope Urlacher doesn't miss too much time this season. Roach has played admirably thus far, but Urlacher cannot be replaced. Health is the most important factor in this season for the Bears.

The preseason's days are numbered.

GO BEARS!!!

Tough to stick with the run, when yer averaging no yards per carry. That said, I agree...gotta keep the threat real.

I say start Evan Rodriguez. As big as and athletic as Davis is, he should be a match-up nightmare for opposing teams....he plays small tho. The same could've been said for Olsen tho. Dude frustrated the shit out of me at times. He was a practice all-star that fizzled on game-day(most of the time).

Clay Matthews at 27 is a bit of a stretch, no?
Not as much as Jared Allen @ 24. Always felt he was over-rated. If his mouth didn't run so much, no one would know who he is.
Face it, the NFC North is treated by the media with the same disdain they give the B1G.

Btw - Jordy Nelson is WAY under-rated on that list . . . but that's good.

[Then again, Finley is ranked way too high - which ESPN moron made this list?]

The way I see that list is, who can't you do without? No way I would take Finley before Woodson!

I respectfully disagree. Clay Matthews hasn't been around long enough to even come close to Jared Allen's status. Right this very second, Clay probably has the edge just based on youth and speed. That said, he could break his leg tomorrow and never play again? Allen's got him by 5 years....IF and when Matthews makes it that long, he very well may be the better player, but for now, ya gotta give Allen the nod on the list.

But ya...the list is crap.

Good argument.

Thing is, I wasn't really saying Clay should be higher, I just think Allen might not be that high on my list - I suppose Clay is ranked a bit too high as well, considering last season's dramatic no-show [in some ways].
I think Suh hasn't done much [besides stomp on a guy who was on the ground], either. He is definitely more media-hype than actual performance, IMO [but that could change].

I still have to say Woodson is way better than 88, Tramon should be higher, & I'm thinking Raji may have a monster year in '12.

Hey Bears fans. I was watching a google video chat hangout on packers.com. A few fans got to hang with Rodgers. So this guy from London asks Rodgers what the funniest thing he's seen on the football field, this is how the rest of the conversation went down.

(Rodgers) "I've seen a lot of funny things, but I enjoy playing against Brian Urlacher because you never know what's gonna come out of his mouth. I mean he's...a really funny guy. The conversations between us if we were ever mic'd would be really interesting because we have a great friendship."

(Fan from London) "So did it feel good to tackle him?"

(Rodgers) "It felt great...I can't really call that a tackle, I was just kinda running fast trying to get in his way."

 I wish we could get this mic feed.

I feel exactly the same way about Suh. Unbelievable rookie year...last year...meh...he shouldn't have even made the Pro Bowl last year.

Too early to rank him so high.

My thoughts on today.

Negatives- We don't run the ball nearly enough. Cutler Forces the ball to Marshall, nearly cost a pick on a couple of occasions. Kellen *sigh*. Nick Roach missed tackles and lane assignments on multiple occasions, two of which were Brown's longest runs. Urlacher is NOT 100%

Positives- Brandon fucking Marshall. Got a pass rush with the down four. Secondary played very well but against a Rookie so take it with a grain of salt.

Pretty much what I expected. Big game thursday though. I expect a lot of points.

word.

I gotta tip the hat to Tim Jennings....dude played his best game as a Bear, and likely ever. His ball skills have improved dramatically. He woulda dropped both those picks last year. The one, was as impressive of a catch as you'll see any WR make!? All 3 INT's were a direct result of him. Good stuff. Hope Peanut's injury isn't serious.

Brandon Marshall is just awesome. Couple a plays that woulda been INT's last year, he fought back and turned into the defender preventing at least 2 would-be picks. Cutler knows this, and will throw it up to him regardless, which I am totally ok with. He will win that battle the vast majority of the time. Our receiving core is legit, for the first time in my life. Alshon will be a star.

The Bears D will be there. I think they are vastly improved from last year, particularly in the secondary, and their overall depth. If players like Wooton, McClellin, Toeina en sech can actually contribute when on the field. Watch out.

This Bears Offense excites me. No longer can opposing teams stack the box, and focus all their energy on Forte. Which, obviously will only benefit Forte.

Not a bad start, all in all, but they will have to improve on the sluggish start, cuz that shit won't fly Thursday.

For the record... Julius Peppers is so awesome. His strength and athleticism is just freakish. Prolly, my favorite player to watch.

Offense looked great, especially when the O-Line gelled. The defense looked questionable, but they were also playing a soft zone the entire second half because they were up by so much. The general consensus seems to be that this is our most complete team since the mid-late 1980s. They looked the part today. If this team can stay healthy, the sky is the limit.
