80k don't spend their time deciphering what they mean, though.

Pats were filming and using it from previous match-ups of the same opponent to recognize the play coming in from the sideline. That is precisely where the competitive advantage gained comes from.
signals are changed every quarter.

Since you are including non-football off field issues, I'd say the worst scandal is Aaron Hernandez, followed closely by Rae Carruth.

denying or arguing this one iota my friend.

like i said extensively last night, and to our handsome italian bar owning friend on text...

its the cover up, not the infraction.

i can agree with that.

the infraction is on the gay list

thats fair. i still dont think this deflate gate...the actual infraction...is a big deal. one would have to be extremely naive to think other teams dont do similar shady things.

that being said, belichick is the happiest guy in legacy town.

The lack of cooperation, sharing his phone, is likely what got Brady in the most hot water. It is his right not to share it but that doesnt free him from punishment. Also being dumb and saying he doesnt even know the guy...thats just stupid.

its why i think the team should have gotten something too, a history of not cooperating. shit, even the saints turned their shit over and they were trying to hurt guys for side pay.

its too much IMO...and will be reduced on appeal if it goes outside the league.

yep, he'll get it reduced to 2-3 games.

team might not get reduced because of their history.

And you know that from your extensive work with 31 other NFL franchises, right?

:washing:
no, from common sense...and the investigation.

its common practice to mix up signals after each quarter.

Teams have long studied signals and tried to decipher them. NFL rules allow this practice. In turn, teams take countermeasures to protect signals. They can change the meaning of their signals. They can have people screening their signalers from eyes on the opposing sideline.

Often, they have multiple coaches signaling at the same time with their own players knowing which coach to watch, or they can hope their opponent doesn’t decipher them.

BTW the Ray Rice issue is definitely a scandal given the league's punishment going against their own policy and the cover up of who saw the video.

Counter intelligence is executed by using fragments of information and piecing it together. Belichick is a huge fan of history and the "Art of War". I fully believe that a man as shrewd as Belichick would attempt to glean as much information as he could from these practices.

Luckily for him, the NFL front office destroyed the evidence.

ummm

its then largest fine in NFL history. a first round pick. a 4th.

if you think this is light it proves your blind patriot hate.

$ 1 million is an absolute joke and a pittance for those involved. It is a non-punishment. It is the equivalent of fining you the price of a McDonalds Happy Meal.

Based on where the Pats normally are picking - and they would have been picking of they were not cheating - again, the 1st let alone the 4th round pick being taken away in separate drafts are little more than a joke as well. It might have seriously hurt if Brady had been suspended for most of the season - since that probably would have cost the Patriots a high pick (and fairly certain a good player). By the time they normally pick, the value of a 1st round pick in terms of certain success has seriously diminished.
