You know your team better than I do, so you're probably right. I just know it was something MJ struggled with early in his career and Kobe struggled with it a couple of times. First when he was in the "Robin" role and then again when he was in the "Batman" role.

Which of the 3 do you think is closest to being "that guy"? If one can be that, maybe the other 2 just need to accept that it's not them?
I'd frame the issue a little differently...

It's not that any of those 3 can't be a "lead dog" on offense.

It's that the team (as a whole) does not have a system or "flow".

If any of those guys has the ball at any given time and wants to go to work, then the rest of the guys on the floor have to arrange themselves (or have a plan) as to how to maximize that possession.

The C's got no plan... all too often.

Additionally, the preferred method of getting offense of this "Big 3" is often too weak on 1.) getting to the foul line and 2.) getting others involved. IOW's, the C's seem to generate a lot of mid range shots... very bad in the modern game from an analytics point-of-view.

Offense is predictable. Defense is just ok

I am hoping for a Harrison Barnes. I don’t want Gordon

Barnes the better fit, Gordon the better player.

but you’re paying peak price for Barnes when he may not be this good

I'm happy with either Barnes or Gordon, depending on the price (of course).

I agree with @The Q that it seems like Barnes would cost more in terms of trade assets. Gordon, OTOH, is coming off injury and has requested a trade... we might could get him cheaper...

... let's see what type of magic Trader Danny can pull off.

If it’s Gordon there should be no smart involved. Picks only

I highly doubt the C's give up Smart... it would have to be some type of crazy deal that gets the C's some substantial return beyond the type of rumors we're currently hearing.

Looks like the Celtics took the less sexy and less costly route...

The cost appears to be 2 2nd round draft picks.

Fournier is on the last year of a $17 million contract... so there are no long-term financial implications of this move.

I'm modestly pleased. We really needed a guy who can put the ball in the basket... (we have too many spare parts who can't consistently)... Fournier fits that bill.

If the Celtics get rid of Smart I'll be very disappointed. He's my favorite player on the roster.

*Theoretically*, we should have a great offense.

Right?

I mean, he’s basically smaller Hayward for this team.

we’ll see how it goes.

the good news is walkers blow by rates are better than even his best years in Charlotte.

The real question is why that isn’t meaning more points in Boston

Right.

You look at our roster on paper... and "Championship!" would be going too far, but you would probably be right in thinking that this **should be** a damn strong team.

We got offense and defense and versatility up the wazoo.

Time to translate all that into results.

Just did a salary dump trade and Theis seems to be most impacted. Damn

Nope. 2/3's of the TPE just went to Fournier.

Methinks ownership is trying to avoid a tax line.

Losing Theis stings like a b!tch... I understand there are several "real world" reasons why Theis is expendable, though:
  • We probably can't keep him next year anyway.
  • We have a log jam at the 5 spot with Timelord's steady progress.
  • Ownership is trying to avoid tax penalties.
It both sucks and is what it is.

Looks like the underwhelming Jeff Teague is also gone... part of the Fournier trade.

Javonte Green is done, as well.

Clearing out the clutter.

they are getting below the tax line this year cause they’re 100% going over next year. Avoiding an unnecessary repeater tax
