Hmm.. Ya think?
The regular season shouldn’t be about the FEW teams it eliminates, it should be about the FEW teams that advance.
It sucks, but it's pretty clear we're not getting a deal without it.

more games more money for everyone but the fansIt sucks, but it's pretty clear we're not getting a deal without it.
the reg season will just become MORE of an exhibition. Why bother committing 3 hours a day to something that has next to zero impact on anything? It sucks, but it's pretty clear we're not getting a deal without it.
TotallyFrom what Olney just tweeted, looks like top 2 teams in each league get byes, the remaining 4 teams in each league play each other in best of 3s.
So they're going to play 162 games to eliminate a little more than half the teams. It's really going to cheapen the regular season, IMO.
For teams like the Pirates essentially are becoming a 162 game spring training competition for the teams that will make the playoffs.the reg season will just become MORE of an exhibition. Why bother committing 3 hours a day to something that has next to zero impact on anything?

Shhhh don't give Rob any ideas. Tied after 9 it might come to this. They should just do a home run derby every night to attract the fans they really seek......
I totally agree with you.the reg season will just become MORE of an exhibition. Why bother committing 3 hours a day to something that has next to zero impact on anything?
The Pirates have a great history, but they have become a laughing stock, unfortunately. I think I saw that they currently have the longest post-season drought in the game? For teams like the Pirates essentially are becoming a 162 game spring training competition for the teams that will make the playoffs.
I know they have essentially been that for a while but it makes it less compelling to watch them vs even prior.

For the 2021 World Series-winning Atlanta Braves, their shares of the postseason pool totaled $32,568,712. The value of a full share shifts depending on how many are awarded by a vote of the team. In the Braves’ case, a share was worth $397,391. The team doled out 66 full shares, a total of 14.25 partial shares and 38 cash awards.
The last time they won a playoff series was 1979.The Pirates have a great history, but they have become a laughing stock, unfortunately. I think I saw that they currently have the longest post-season drought in the game?
As a non-fan of the team, I like the team. They have a GREAT park and GREAT uni’s. Add in the history they have and they are an org that should be a perennial winner if for no other reason than they are just a good ambassador for the game.
Giants are such a big part of my life that I will have a hard time stopping cold turkey, but my interest in the game is very diminished with these changes and I can see myself making incremental step backs over the next few years resulting in an almost complete walk away by ‘24 or ‘25.MLB is dead to me.
