When it comes to discussing which World Series was the best, 1975, 1986, and 1991 are some of the years that are brought up and rightly so. However, if you delve into breaking down the closeness of the games, then there's one World Series that doesn't get mentioned enough.

I would nominate the 2001 World Series. Didn't end the way I wanted it to, but it had everything. 7 games, miracle wins, and devastating losses.

Terrific World Series, however I would counter that it had a 9-0 game, a 4-1 game, and a 15-2 game. Two blowouts out of seven which takes away from it.

2016 was pretty great. Not a ton of one run games, but that series was a rollercoaster ride and it had a pretty unforgettable game 7. Probably my favorite WS not involving the Red Sox.

2017 was also really good. Five games were decided by 2 runs or less. Game 5 was crazy.

Not a great game seven which detracts from it, but as a Pirate fan, I was glad to see Tony Watson and Charlie Morton do well in it.
