I wonder if they can avoid losing 100 games this season. What a pity it is to root for your team to win 63 games and consider it to be some type of accomplishment! This is a screwed up organization that continues to use the same wackos to run it and ruin any possible hope for something better. However I can be thankful that I am not a season ticket holder because they will suffer more than most of us!

Sooner or later, people are going to stop supporting this nonsense. Then, and its a big maybe, that idiot owner may get the message.

I have little hope for this organization. We will have to wait until next year to see if they make changes.
They will have the worst attendance in many years and probably lose over 60 million dollars in revenue.
However the TV money kicks in next year and will make up for the losses. Then it becomes a matter of wanting to win. The fans want to win but we will have to wait to see if ownership does. But Howard is a multi millionaire
so no reason for him to worry!

Phils are rebuilding so we can't expect even 63 wins. Starting pitching will be erratic and the lineup is inconsistent. Hamels will likely be traded this year. Good things can still happen as the young guys develop.

Yea jvett I agree but Northeast is correct. Unless the foundational tenet of this organization is to win, they'll screw-up trades and allow braindead to go dumpster diving at the behest of the young guys like Nola and others like Ruf. The first thing that idiot owner should do is fire braindead ASAP and then cut Howard and eat his remaining salary. IT is a complete waste of time to trot that fool out on the field night in and night out when he is completely useless and is holding back the development of guy like Ruf. The reason Asche, Rupp, and Herrera are coming on is that they know they'll be playing alot and they get the necessary playing time and hitting and they just get better. Jerking Ruf around serves no purpose other than to trash his career. So the sooner the owner gets rid of Amaro and Howard the quicker we can get on with getting the right young players on the field.

Honestly, I think it would be too rude to release Howard any time soon. The potential is always there and let's see what happens in other lineup positions and with platooning. No one's going to agree with me but I think his hits will come. It's really early. Nine games. He's getting use to his winter lard off program and his timing is screwed up, possibly.

I've lived through a lot of bad baseball in Philadelphia, but this might be the least talented team in my lifetime.

Without question, this is one of the worst teams in MLB history

We unloaded Rollins and Byrd for prospects. Didn't we want to get young? That means we sacrifice winning now for winning years from now. But we still want to win. Impossible. It's a freakin drag but reality. We'll be worse when Hamels goes. Knowing this makes me want to follow the progress of our "future" team while I know we're a last place team right now maybe headed for 57 wins. Maybe we can win 67 or 77 (lol?) but only if the mixture of youth and experience on the team is more consistent. It can be fun to watch - sometimes.

You are eternally more optimistic than I am jvett!

Two guys that are also blocking Ruf are Sizemore and Francoeur, the $3M duo. They don't belong on a rebuilding team. I'd rather see these two dumped and keep Howard who might contribute 22 HRs this year. Then when Brown comes back, Ruf would not be at risk.

Yea Francoeur showed how useless he is and we already know that Sizemore is the same. I know we are going to win many games but many of these guys are even trying and that is what pisses me off the most.

Well, .312 x 162 = 50 wins in this early 16 game sample. I would assume they can play a little better. We're looking at an ugly season especially if there's little improvement from both the old core and younger guys.

Their defensive play all around in the last few games has been totally amateurish like they've been drinking between innings. For the record, the 1928 Phillies won only 7 games a month: 43-109, .283, 51 GB! Imagine CBP attendance averaging 10,000 and dropping below one mill. Scary to think about.
