Did I? I thought I liked the 5.25M offer? I'm fine with that, or maybe that was for G? lol idk anymore.

Either way, he plays like he did last night, the hardworking, battles every shift, hits everything on ice, Cally. Then sign him.

IDK maybe I misinterpreted your response. Thought you said it was a bit high, but maybe you were cool with it :noidea:

Okay can you Rangers fans tell me why the Rangers shouldn't sign this guy. I mean supposedly he's the heart & soul of the team.

Not a Rangers fan, but...

1. He's asking for too much money.

2. He was the heart & soul of Tort hockey, not so much AV hockey. Heart & soul of AV hockey appears to be Zuccarello.

Well he picked a great time to have a big game last night that's for sure. Either Callahan's trade value went up or his asking price might not seem as ridiculous.

Cally is still the heart and soul be cause he still leads by example and still does all the things his teammates want in a captain. Zucc has just thrived under AV system you wouldn't be naming him captain.

Only reason I wouldn't name him captain is because he's Norwegian & I'm unfamiliar with their demeanor.

His body is wearing down on him. All those block shots, his style of hockey doesn't fit this system. We've watched him grow over the years and we all love Cally. He still is our Captain and the heart and soul of this team and everything you want in a NYR. He just needs to lower his demands and stay here.

Ryan Callahan is looking for a seven-year deal of upwards of $6.5 million per year, somewhere between $6.5 and $7 million per year. I think the New York Rangers are prepared to give him $6 million and maybe a bit more than $6 but maybe on a lesser term.

Take that deal if you really want to stay.

If Callahan gets on a hot streak (especially at MSG), I say he gets $6.5 million per year. What a difference a game makes.

He could solidify $6 million per if he goes into the break strong. Against he Oilers that will be easy to do.

It's going to be interesting to see if he actually gives the Rangers a hometown discount. Up to this point it sure doesn't look like it.

No player ever does. Very rare you see that happen.

Yeah, especially in New York. It's against the spirit of the city to not go for top dollar every time . People go to NYC to get paid, not to give discounts.

Well I think Hank took a discount to stay here. On the open market, he would have gotten at least 2M more per year.

Glen Sather is determined to get something for Ryan Callahan rather than keep him and let him go to free agency for nothing. (NY Post)
Sather has not yet received an offer enticing enough to trade Callahan and it appears that he will be a Ranger through the Olympic trade freeze that starts at 3PM today. (NY Post)
There is a “fair amount of doubt” around the league that the Rangers will actually go through with a trade for Callahan if they don’t have him signed by the March 5 trade deadline. (ESPN NY)
There has been no progress through the past two days of conversations between Callahan’s agent and the Rangers about coming to terms on a contract extension. (NY Post and ESPN NY)
