I talked to my dad briefly. He is a lifelong Browns fan dating back to the late 50s/60s. He can't stand Mayfield, he said "He's like Manziel if he had laid off the booze and coke. Still a clown, just a sober clown."

Where do you go from here? Because I like your coach and I think you have a genuinely good core of players intact.

I don't know. The core is definitely top 10. The thing that concerns me with Mayfield is I get he was hurt, I do, but he was hurt against Cincy too. But since that game the offense hasn't remotely looked like the team from last year, and you can't blame that on beckham because they didn't have him then either.

Only the braintrust of cleveland knows, and I have faith they will make the call they need to

I actually saw one of those ridiculous NFL BLM commercials during this game where a black actor says”I earn 10 percent less than a white man with same education and experience as me”. I couldn’t believe it

That's got to be the final game for Baker Mayfield as a starter right?

Going to take me a while to formulate the words as to what this game meant for me... But all I know is, if you post a nice thing about Ben then you're getting a positive rating from me... Maybe even a rainbow or 2... I'm in my feels over here

I haven't read anything in this thread, but was it announced Chubb was hurt last night or was the the Cle OC fired immediately after the game?
A child could have done a better job calling plays.

And bad shoulder or not it's Baker's decision making as much as anything else that makes him horrible this year. That team is a SB contender with an average QB. Look at the last two weeks and late in both games they had a shot. If Cle somehow picks up a good QB this offseason that is going to be one heck of a team IMO

Shame TJ Watt missed a couple of games. He would have broken the record without needing game #17

Always going to be a debate, which is unfortunate. Week 17 is only his 15th game this year. So on a per game basis he could shatter the mark. And its also fair to point out that Strahan didn't play during a pandemic.

He still has one game left, and only needs one. Going up against Villy should help a lot. And missing games should help with anyone who would say he only got it because of the expanded season.

Especially with Strahan's last sack being an obvious gift from Favre.

This. Looking back at Strahan's game log the only sack he got in game 16 was the Favre gift.
Interesting with the record he had 3 games where he didn't record a sack at all and needed week 15 to get close.
Whereas Watt missed 2 games, didn't record a sack in 4 games and needed week 16 to get close.

Just for shits and gigs Mark Gastineau didn't miss a game and also had 3 games where he didn't record a sack.

Yes, but part of it is staying healthy. To me it doesn't matter how many games he played in himself. It's an 17 game season. If it were 16 his season would be over. That doesn't mean his feat is any less special, but he needed a 17 game season to break the record. The way he is going he may break it in 15 games next year

Also fair to point out that he got 17 games to play 15/16 (or whatever); he got the extra game.

That being said - seasons have grown in the NFL - and records are records...if he gets the record, he has the record. He doesn't control the amount of games the NFL/NFLPA decide to play - but he can take advantage.

I guess I could have included Allen and Houston.

Allen had a monster week 16 to get to 22 and also had 3 games w/o a sack.

Houston was essentially the same monster week 16 to get to 22 and had 3 games w/o a sack.

Man how could have I missed the elephant in the room. Mike Tomlin's streak of not finishing under .500 stays intact!

I think he has more 8 win seasons than any other coach ever since they went to a 16/17 game schedule. Also, I fully expect the missing the play off streak (with under 10 wins) to stay alive.

Tomlin really takes being average to the next level. :D
