Throwing TD's was never a problem for Baker. TB could make the playoffs every year but what is their ceiling. Obviously, I would undo the Watson trade and keep Baker Nobody was throwing TD's with that OL last week
I was reading where the average pressure against Watson last week was something like (from memory so could be wrong) 4.5 seconds. That's actually a lot of time. I suspect it came more from scrambling though and if he sat in the pocket it would have been much less.

Maybe he gained time with mobility but that OL was a sieve

They need to give Dorsey a chance to actually call the plays. Stefanski refuses to give it up though. Right now Dorsey designs the plays but Stefanski still picks them. Really doesn't make sense.
But this is like complaining that the dog shit would look better in a green ensemble instead of the yellow sun dress. Watson is the dog shit. The ancillary shit really doesn’t matter when it’s dog shit on the table.

Would make a huge difference. We saw it last year

I thought it was obvious the day that they traded for him that this was a disastrous move. Over a short period of time, when looking at what they gave up, his off the field transgressions, the contract he was given and how he played with the Browns it became clear this was the worst deal in NFL history and it gets clearer and clearer that it was as time goes by.
It's clearly looking like an awful deal......but to be fair at least a dozen teams wanted to bring him in and give up a lot to get him.

were they willing to fully guarantee his deal? Probably not....but they'd have likely all come really close.

at least we are not paying him $40 mil to play for our rival.....yet. So we've got that going for us?

The glazed look of the Cleveland fans during "America's Game of the Week" told the whole story. It sucks to have that realization in week 1 as a fan. They're best to just bench Watson and play somebody the rest of the team can rally around. Obviously it caps their potential with another retread like Flacco, but at least the team will play inspired rather than deflated football and the fans can see a reasonable product on the field.
It could come to this but guessing wont happen after week 1 where many QBs/teams did not look good.

Flacco took them to the playoffs. Shoulda kept him.
I mean, he was 4-1. same as Watson. so watson led them to playoffs as much as Flacco.

Guessing those 2 critical pick sixes was among the reasons he was not brought back. Happen to prefer Winston anyway.

Not sure stopping him from calling plays after one bad game makes much sense either since he happens to be a good play caller.

Might it come to that? Sure.....but also should be noted Dorsey is allowed input on play calls and likely his voice is heard?

I think it is funny when people say this. The guy is 40 years old. He is nothing more than a good replacement QB for a very short period of time. In end they lost in the playoffs and Flacco threw 2 pick sixes. He had a great run and I loved him in Cleveland but he isn't the answer. Winston makes more sense than him and 10 years younger.

OK, just watched the highlights of Cowboys Browns. You can't go into week 2 with that QB on a team with that much talent

He was beyond bad....but might be a little too early to dump him. a lot of bad QB play week 1 (never mind Dallas has a really good D).

Three things I saw:

(1) Passes going through the receiver's hands.
(2) Receivers not getting to their spots.
(3) When Watson scrambled, which was often, not once did I ever see a receiver coming back to the ball to help him out.

I thought Watson played pretty well, but he needs a little help from his teammates.

Yeah can’t believe they paid Prescott that much. :heh:

Seriously though, Watson wasn’t great but didn’t get a lot of assistance either.

I'm curious to know how long the locker room can tolerate this. I know these guys are proud and they are pros but the other guys gotta be getting pretty pissed at this. I don't think Winston gives them a ton of hope but there will come a time when Stefanski will just realize Watson's crap is adversely effecting the rest of the team.
