Post FA mock...

1.31 - DE/DT Jarran Reed, Alabama. This is a name I have heard we are very high on and if he falls to us, we would jump all over. This class is loaded with defensive linemen, so it is possible that he does fall. Would fill a need and is probably BPA or close to it.
2.63 - G Vadal Alexander, LSU - We seem to have shored up the tackles, so grabbing a guard here makes sense. Also a name I hear we like.
3.94 - QB Dak Prescott, Mississippi State - Pre DUI, we loved the guy and would jump at the chance to draft him at the end of the 2nd. Now, I don't know.
3.98 (c) - LB Beniquez Brown, Mississippi State - I've seen Brown mocked to us a lot as well. Not sure if he could fight for a starting position next to BMarsh, but could be developed into that spot in a year or two.
4.136 (c) - DE/DT Matt Ioannidis, Temple - Again, this is the strength of this class and it may not be a bad thing to grab as many as we can if we like them.
5.144 - OT Parker Ehinger, Cincinnati - I've seen some sites listing him as a late first/early 2nd round prospect. I don't buy that, but getting him here in the 5th would be a pretty good value. Solid run blocker with a nasty streak.

This is probably one of the best mocks I've seen for us so far. I have mixed feelings on Prescott, but it's not a bad spot to take him in the 3rd. These aren't sexy picks, by any means, but they fill a need and most are solid value for where they have been slotted.
I'd like to see a RB selected in the first 6 picks...

I guess we'll see who wins the battle between Kubes and "2nd & 3rd round RB picks JE."

JE is going to have to defer when it comes to rb's, his Ball and Hillman picks were train wrecks

Ball I'll give you, but 863 yards and 7 TD's is far from a "train wreck" when you consider Hillman split time with CJ. He was also our leading rusher in 2015, even considering his production tailed off in the playoffs.

Hillman is just a change of pace back though. He doesn't have the game to be a feature back. I wouldn't mind keeping him in that role, but I'm not sure he would be interested in a reduced role behind CJ.

Where we drafted Hillman, he is.

During the span of his career with the Broncos, Hillman did not do anything an UDFA couldn't have done, and probably done better ..

Hillman wasn't even Quentin Griffin

Hillman was better than the plethora of RB's that came before him. I could name at least 5 players he was better than just from the last 10+ years. Did he live up to his 3rd round draft stock? Probably not but considering no one really has any interest in him and unless the Broncos sign Alfred Morris Hillman would be insanely cheap and he's already been productive in this system.

Actually when you consider the draft position, Hillman isn't really that bad. Not like he was a first rounder who was "guaranteed" to produce. Anyway, my opinion I wouldn't consider Hillman to be a "train wreck". He's just not a feature type back. He needs to be a part of a tandem.

Hillman had like 50 yards on 30 something carries in the playoffs. That's horrendous. He's not a money player. Never will be. Sproles, Woodhead, etc. these are change of pace guys that can be that X factor. I will vomit in my mouth if I have to watch Hillman run into a pile and fall backwards for 4 yards, or fumble with his wee little "Whopper" hands at a crucial part of a game. He's not even that good catching out of the backfield. If you look at some of the guys we could've had in lieu of Hillman in that draft you would throw up in your mouth too

Now I will say that Hillman probably shouldn't have been a 3rd round pick. Change of pace type backs at least to me are 5th round and later types. You can get an athletically gifted guy that isn't an every down back at that point. Having said that he has done decent when starting for us over the last couple of years. His running style does not fit our offense as it is today though. He could be a huge home run threat even more than he is if he had the most important ingredient needed to work well in a ZBS...Vision. If the outside lane was open he could hit it and do well. The problem is teams for the most part figured out when Hillman is in to just force him back into the inside because he refuses to do it. It is why we saw so many negative plays in the playoffs because teams just wouldn't let him have the outside. They banked that he wouldn't take the cut back lane that was open for 5-7 yard runs. Teams overran the play which is exactly what you want in the ZBS but Hillman just couldn't see the cut back.

I do wish him well but I am looking forward to the coaches forming the Backfield they want this year.

If Alex Collins is still there when we pick at the bottom of the 2nd round, I think Elway should really consider taking him

If we are going RB relatively early (i don't think we will) I think booker or dixon are our best bets. I would rather wait and take a guy like Keith Marshall or Peyton Barber further down the draft though.
