Are any O-Linemen worth taking in the 1st round this draft? I know there are people who claim they're 1st round prospects but does all the 1st round busts these past several years scare us from taking one?
Hey Duff, the main site I go to is Walter Football. They seem to be pretty good with prospects, etc. What I`ve seen so far is there is not a lot of love out there for LT`s but there seems to be a very good group of guards, RT`s and some Centers. Most of the LT`s I`ve seen are projected to fit better as Rt`s so imo Denver needs to resign Clady, pk up a worthy FA tackle or hope Sambrillo develops and earns that spot next yr. Now day`s, imo and from what I`ve been reading, the ideal circumstances would be for your O-line draft pks to have a yr or two to develope, learn techniques, and build strength in order to adapt to the NFL. There are exceptions of course but rare to find the "instant" starter that will actually play at a high level his first yr. Unfortunately for Denver they might not have the talent now that will actually be better next year, to have that luxury of being able to give their draft pks the time. Could very well see some thrown to the wolves next yr and we`ll be watching the O-line struggle again.

Right now Indiana Jason Spriggs is my target in rd 1. Fits our system and projected draft slot. He should end up going around our pick (as of now)....

I'd also like to end up with Devontae Booker and Leonte Carroo :)

I`m going to go look up Spriggs and get back to you but your other two choices, guy who blew his knee out and a concrete slammer is`nt working :) JK DC but couldn`t help it :) Just off the top of my head at possible available pks besides Carroo would be Higgins from CSU. Also.....wasn`t there a WR that played for CU named Carroo that had his pregnant wife or girlfriend murdered yrs ago :) :) :)

Feeling OK DC? You targeting an OT?? What next, will you be endorsing The Donald? Eating sushi? Start being a Cubs fan?

This sir is an obvious dig at Colorado Buffalo fans. I would just gently point out to you - the University of Colorado managed to keep Rae Carruth from killing anyone while he was enrolled as a student (at least, no one that we know about).

OC I am with you .. There is not one D or R IMO worth my time to vote for I kind of like John Kasich but I use that word Lightly !!!

The rest make me want to hurl ..

Kasich is not enough fire but I do like him as a person .. I am afraid he will be like the rest say one(balance the budget ) F'n thing and do(Make Drunk sailors embarrassed at there spending ) like the rest !!! I say Shut down Congress and the Senate for 50 years .. Repeal 90 % of old laws on books . Adultery laws and silly ass stuff that are not remotely enforced should get the garbage can .

Freedom should be made a priority of both parties . And there should be No IRS . That should be done on consumption ...If you buy used no tax.

Heckuva game between Indiana and Duke. (although I did think the Indy K made the tying FG) Thanks for the heads up on Spriggs, DC - watched him throughout the game and he was impressive.

Just finished watching some on Jason Spriggs. I can definitely see why he would be a target for our team. You are right very good fit for our system. In the ZBS you usually care mostly about does the guy have great foot work and Spriggs has probably been the best of all the OL players I have watched footwork wise. I don't see him getting caught lunging to make a block very often. Now I still need to watch a few more games of his but he doesn't seem to have a problem with speed rushers because he gets such a good base underneath him and doesn't panic on the edge.

Negatives I see in this kid though...And honestly every single OL player in college football has negatives these days. I haven't seen a clean OL player in a long time. I see more and more why OL players coming out are really struggling from day 1 and usually take a year or two to develop. With Spriggs he lacks what I would call NFL Strength. He actually reminds me a bit of Sambrailo in good footwork but very susceptible to the bull rush because he just doesn't have the strength to hold his ground. This also shows up in Spriggs while he will get to the 2nd level I don't see him finishing guys off. La'el Collins is a great example of a guy who just finishes people. This is why I view Spriggs as a better pass blocker than run blocker in the NFL. If I were training him this off season to get ready for the combine and draft honestly upper body strength would be my focus. Teams need to see that this guy can hold up against NFL players and not just get shoved back into the QB.

Now having said all those negative things about him like you said he is a great fit for our offense and footwork honestly is one of the harder things for an OL player to learn so the fact that he has a very good start to that part of the game should help him develop faster than most. My problem right now is I just don't know what the team thinks of Sambrailo...Is he a RT/LT/LG? I can't see them being comfortable drafting a guy like Spriggs and plugging him in at the LT spot as a rookie so I would think they are working on a plan that either they trust Sambrailo to develop and really do well at that position, Clady get healthy, or still try to get Joe Thomas here to Denver. The more I think about it and the aggressive nature of Elway the more I don't think we will have a 1st round pick because Cleveland will have it.

Also just a quick my wife is cooler than your wife moment to brag about. My 30th birthday is actually during the NFL draft this year. She informed me a week ago that her gift to me is to fly out and be a part of the NFL draft! So if any of you have any recommendations of things to do while at the draft let me know. This is maybe my only reason for hoping the Broncos don't trade away their 1st round pick to Cleveland in the hopes of being present when whoever we draft goes forward!

LGM would use the occasion to hire some chicks to fill up his dance card, but I am not recommending that in this circumstance. ;)

If h doesn't have some obvious flaws, he isn't going to be available were we draft. ;)

True but what I am saying is even the OL guys that will be picked in say the top-15 picks have some major flaws. Tunsil and Stanley both are superior athletes for the OT position and expected to go top-10. When I watch them though to me I see a developmental project that will struggle year 1. They both get caught leaning in pass protection. Von Miller would laugh at their attempts to lunge at him. In college they can get away with it but in the NFL they need some major technical work. With these spread offenses in college football it is honestly ruining OL play in the NFL. If I were a high school player knowing I will be going to the OL in college honestly the university I pick is Iowa. They have been known for producing high quality OL players. They have a great OL coach who actually works on technique.

4 more declare

Demonte Kazee, CB, San Diego State

coming off a good year on the INT total. Still raw but not sure he could improve his stock a lot more nationally.

Cayleb Jones, WR, Arizona- Was wonderful as a SOPH, bad this year, great bowl game but that was really his only good game all year. Lots of upside. After last year I'd have thought an early pick. Not so sure on that now. Has to work out well

Cleveland Wallace, DB, San Jose State- Very intriguing coming off a good year.

Dwayne Washington ,RB, Washington- No business declaring as he lost his starting job this year to Myles Gaskin. Then again not like he was getting it back next year. Better option was probably to transfer... Up and down as a SOPH but showed promise. Really a non factor this year. He's gonna have to work out REALLY well to get drafted.

Indiana RB Jordan Howard also declared. Guy I would also be interested in. Very effective. Not as good as Booker in our system, IMO, but I would be interested. Great numbers for a guy who was banged up a lot which would be a concern of mine.

Indiana has some legit prospects this year with Spriggs, Howard and QB Nate Sudfeld.
