Are you fucken serious ?? :L

Chamberlain also averaged 48.5 minutes per game-quite a feat when you consider that an NBA game lasts only 48 minutes. The Warriors played a total of 10 overtime periods in seven games that season in 1962, and Chamberlain was on the court for 3,882 of a possible 3,890 minutes. Of the team's 80 games, he went the distance in a record 79 of them.

Looks to me like he also overvalued playing basketball :laugh3::laugh3:

Not denying that Wilt was good, but Russell was better in understanding the game and overall.

"Russell was such a genius that he knew that scoring was not that important. He refused to 'overvalue offense' like Wilt."

And just how do you figure that? Wilt dominated Russell and everyone, including Russell, knows it.

If I remember correctly the Lakers LOST that game. The opposition scored well over 100, that much I'm sure of.

Wilt was a 76er, not a Laker when he had the 100 point gams and the 76ers won. He also had 25 rebounds.

For his career, Wilt averaged 30.1 points, 22.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and shot 54% from the field.

For his career, Russell averaged 15.1 points, 22.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and shot 44% from the field.

Haven't been able to find blocked shots and steals because they weren't recorded back then apparently.

Scoring and FG% are solidly in Wilts favor and Wilt has the slightest of edges is rpg and apg. The only area where Russell was better was free throw %. Russell shot 56% to Wilts 51%

He outscored Russell frequently but Russell's TEAM usually won the games, and especially the post-season ones.

The more important the game the more likely Russell's Celtics were to come out with the W.

I'll take Ws over what Wilt settled for any day.

So Russellites espouse his superior rebounding and defense, yet the numbers prove that to be in Wilt's favor too.

The only thing his fans have are the rings.

Bill Russell is like Dennis Rodman. Only not as good.

So the Celtics were a better team than the 76ers, Warriors and Lakers.

Tell us something new.

We're talking about two players. One dominated the other and everyone knows who that is.

Chamberlain and Russell played head-to-head a total of 142 times. In those matchups, Wilt averaged 28.7 PPG and 28.7 RPG. Russell, on the other hand, averaged 23.7 PPG, and 14.5 RPG.

Not. Even. Close.

So in other words Russell couldn't carry a team on his shoulders, they needed to baby sit him instead all the way to those championships.

I'm wondering now: Just how many games was Wilt the high scorer in a game his team LOST?

That's one category no one should ever want to rank high in.

Not denying that Wilt was good, but Russell was better in understanding the game and overall.

Chamberlain was a gargantuan force in the NBA, a player of Bunyanesque stature who seemed to overshadow all around him. He was a dominant offensive force, unstoppable on his way to the basket, yet he was also a fine all-around athlete who took pride in developing the all-around skills to compete with players a half-foot shorter.

What’s of note is that Chamberlain’s career rebounding average was 22.9 RPG, while Russell’s was 22.5 RPG. Appears Wilt destroyed Bill on the boards any time he faced him.

Also of note is the fact Wilt scored 62 points in a game against Russell on January 14, 1962 in Boston, and scored more than 50 points against him in six other games. The most points Russell ever scored against Wilt? 37. Also, Russell only scored more than 30 against Wilt two other times.

Of further note is the fact Wilt set an NBA record grabbing 55 rebounds against Russell in a game on November 24, 1960, and grabbed more than 40 rebounds against Bill in six other games.

"Russell was an amazing rebounder and defender."

I thought for sure I had both on that list. :pound: In the original thread, I know I mentioned them both.

Lohaus was actually very similar to Russell, though superior athletically.
