So then guys who rode the pine for the Celtics in the 50s are better than Jordan.

Bullshit.
According to Magic, he himself isn't even top 10 of all time and is no better than Steve Kerr or Derek Fisher

btw....apology accepted, man

They were good, but I'll take Magic over any of them.

Who, to Laker fans, is "The Logo?" Jerry West, maybe?

Yes, Jerry West. He is the NBA logo!! To me, Magic is the greatest Laker AND the GOAT. However, Kareem, Wilt and Jerry West belong in ANY conversation about greatest Laker and/or GOAT.

I've watched West in the past, and wished he had been a Celtic, but he is the only Laker other than Magic I would say that about.

I feel the same way about Larry Bird and Havlicek.

Jordan
Magic
Bird

They're the three greatest fundamental basketball players that ever lived. Debate everyone else, but those three are in stone.

The "Big O" was Oscar Robertson.

Magic Johnson is the ONLY Laker who rates comparison with Bill Russell!

Wilt Chamberlain ate Russell alive and he even admitted it. ATE. HIM. ALIVE.

And upon what basis can you compare Russell to Kareem and do it with a straight face?

I could argue about how many MVP's Bird got vs. Magic, but it's water under the bridge...

Wilt won more scoring titles, but Russell won more rings.

No coincidence there.

Wilt OVERVALUED offense, Russell knew better.

Which is a nice way of saying Wilt totally dominated Russell.

"Wilt could have been as good as Russell is he didn't 'overvalue offense' so much. I mean 100 points in one game and averaging 50 points for an entire season? Just think how good he could have been if he didn't 'overvalue offense' so much."

This debate is laughable.

If I remember correctly the Lakers LOST that game. The opposition scored well over 100, that much I'm sure of.

Are you fucken serious ?? :L

Chamberlain also averaged 48.5 minutes per game-quite a feat when you consider that an NBA game lasts only 48 minutes. The Warriors played a total of 10 overtime periods in seven games that season in 1962, and Chamberlain was on the court for 3,882 of a possible 3,890 minutes. Of the team's 80 games, he went the distance in a record 79 of them.

Looks to me like he also overvalued playing basketball :laugh3::laugh3:

He wasn't playing for the Lakers then.

This debate is silly though. Wilt dominated Russell and that's that.

If you polled 100 NBA GMs and coaches who they'd take between Hakeem and Russell, not a single one would take Russell.
