Sorry, I didn't look back to see who I responded to initially and just assumed it was you. But why are you responding to my post that was in response to someone else who said something inaccurate? He used the word athlete, not just baseball, which would encompass all sports. No way what Braun did is worse than Armstrong.

Never said it was worse but it's certainly equivalent.

They both ruined other people to try and prove their innocence and were ultimately still found guilty of juicing.

Yeah, but Braun just ruined 1 guy. Armstrong went after literally dozens of people. He filed lawsuits and actually won settlements against people who were telling the truth.

Armstrong was also the mastermind of a doping circle and a taskmaster making sure everyone toed the "company line". Braun's an arrogant prick, but I don't think he's a criminal mastermind. I'm sure it wasn't even his idea to try and destroy the tester. It was probably his people. I'm not trying to alleviate blame from him, just put the comparison in perspective.

John McGraw ,as a player ,had no peer as an asshole. He was the toughest, meanest, cheatenest, fightenest SOB ever. He wasn't much nicer as a manager.

Leo Durocher is a very close second. He was a total ass.

i hate chipper jones, but i don't really view him as an asshole. if you're talking about the hooters incident, i am sure countless numbers of famous athletes cheat on their wives and it doesn't come into public scrutiny.

Good list, though I'd probably remove Chipper Jones. He's just a dumb hick, not an asshole.

I don't know how anyone could leave Gandil off. He was a notorious asshole, even before he became the mastermind behind the worst scandal in sports history. Not to mention, of the Black Sox, he kept most of the money for himself and didn't distribute it to the other guys. The one other guy who really made out was Cicotte, who demanded a significant portion of his payment in advance. They all got paid, but not the amounts they were promised, and Gandil kept most of it for himself and lied to the other guys. Gandil also had people place bets for him using the money, and made enough off the whole scandal that he simply retired when Comiskey refused to give him a raise for the 1920 season.

I wish I could post of clip of one of his all star appearance when during the announcnig of players, when everyone jogged and high fived the other All Stars on their way to standing in line, he just walked slowly (like some inner-city thug jay-walking) to his spot without even acknowledging a teammate....

Just because a dick gives money to charity, he's a good guy? The only thing he was probably thinking about was the tax break...

Bonds' dickishness goes back to his college days. I believe his teammates voted to kick him off the team at one point, or something to that effect.

elijah dukes has some serious anger problems that he needs help with. it goes way beyond being an asshole.
