I'd also add Kirk Gibson. When he played for LA I saw him on several occassions tell kids who wanted his autograph off.
Right now, I think Braun is doing his best to take the title.
Easily Roger Clemens. He is the biggest douchebag in the history of all baseball douchebagness.
I always thought Albert Belle represented the misunderstood angry ol' curmudgeon. Not necessarily an asshole, just misunderstood by enough people that their friends and peers would hear about him and just think "ok, yeah, he's an asshole".
Which begs the question, is being somewhat aloof and solitarily-in-nature go hand-in-hand in with being an asshole? Or is it fault of just not knowing the person well enough?
Alex Rodriguez and Randy Johnson both deserve a spot on that list. I know plenty of people who had experiences with the two of them while they played in Seattle and I rarely hear good things about them. A-Rod came off as a cocky prick who never intended to stay in Seattle and Randy Johnson had an insane temper regarding fans, reporters, teammates, just about everyone. The shit I've heard about Randy Johnson made him sound almost mentally unstable.
