BUT, we will have an exciting offense to watch for the next couple years -- especially if Ebron learns how to hold onto the ball. Who needs defense anyway.

Denver Broncos? :laugh3:

Denver Broncos?

Maybe Peyton Manning will want to come and play for his former coach. Stafford can be a really expensive backup for a year or two.

And my guess is half of you saying the Lions need to sign him no matter what will be bitching about the ridiculous amount he ends up signing for, if he signs.

Not me. He's worth every penny whichever team hits the jackpot and gets lucky enough to sign him, He makes all 10 guys around him better, especially the front 7. The joke is on the Lions fans. Watch him to go the Seahawks or Niners and win a bunch of Superbowls once he's actually surrounded by good players and not Martin Mayhew draft picks. It's going to be hard to watch.

I'd be surprised if he ended up on a serious SB contenders, most of those teams have enough cap problems without trying to fit Suh in the budget.

He does love the North West, wouldn't surprise me at all to find him playing for the Hawks next year. Build a culture and the players will come to you.

Pete Carroll and company built something there. ( I don't care for the guy I think he's shady) But he wins.

Lions need to build a culture of something. Anything. Right now the culture is where FA come to die and draft picks don't amount to shit unless they cost 15+ a year.

As long as the Hawks keep finding all pros in rounds 5 and later, they'll be able to sign all the bad ass FA linemen they want, just like they have been. The Lions screwed themselves because all their best players were top 3 picks. That's why our cap is a mess. Plus our team president is an alcoholic.

I would have offered him 6 years, 108M as a starting point.

Swarm, I think you're the only guy who see's eye to eye with me on Suh.

I'm guessing both sets are bloodshot and squinty though.

"The Lions will be able to sign 3 or 4 good players for the price of Suh!" - Optimistic Lions fans.

"Suh handcuffed this team in FA when we could have signed better guys! Grrr!!" - Fans who regurgitate everything they hear on 97.1 the ticket.

Let's debunk both myths right now.

Here are the kind of guys this staff of drunk and naked drive thru bozos throw their big money at:

Kyle VandenBosh
Nate Burelson
Chris Houston
Brandon Pettigrew
Golden Tate
James Ihedbigo

Suh is better than all those guys combined.

Number two, barely anyone wants to play here. Every year there are your Hawks, Niners, Broncos, Pats etc...top teams who are so close they just go out and sign all the best FA's. That's the NFL now. Thinking the guys these teams sign were ever going to sign here is delusional.

get used to it Suh haters. A team like the Lions gets superstars when they suck bad enough to pick in the top 5 (often) then lose them. Calvin is the exception thanks to that lone winning season.

You like old, sometimes past their prime FA's familiar with our new coaches looking for one more big pay day getting bank thrown at them by the Lions?

Then you'll love the new look Lions when Suh is gone. They'll look a lot like the old look Lions.

I guess I should've corrected Reggie's info and say "good hands for catching passes" as he had a bit of a fumbling issue last year.

Thanks for strengthening my argument. 0 pro bowls between them, a group of average to good players, nobody great. Tulloch another perfect example of an ex player familair with a new HC and getting PAID.

Reggie Bush with good hands hahaha good one Micro.

Good at catching ball, not so good at then holding onto it.

That's what I said.

Exactly. Hope we get 3 more just like him with all the money we'll save without Suh! Maybe we can lead the league in fumbles every year.

Pro Bowls don't always vote in the best players. Many players get in based off of name and fans.

Also, we can't always sign big FA's. I think they've signed some quality FA's. The players I've listed have definitely helped this team IMO, even if they aren't Suh.

Listen, I get it. You love Suh. I do too. But I also realize that he may just not want to play here. We have no idea what kind of offers the Lions have thrown at him. If he really doesn't want to play in Detroit, no amount of money is gonna get him here.

He may simply want to play in a different city or something closer to "home". Maybe he wants to play in a big city. Fact is we really don't know what he wants. But placing all the blame on Mayhew and Lewand is ridiculous IMO. Sure, they aren't the best front office employees, but even the big names leave places they've loved and if Suh really wants to play elsewhere, nothing they do can make him stay.

It's ridiculous if you believe all the stuff you said before that. It's completely logical if you believe he would stay if this staff had built a winner around him in the 4 years they had him, but they didn't.

Guys like Suh almost never reach the open market after their first contract. Who was the last guy on his level to jet from the team who drafted him the first chance he could? It happens when players get old, not when their in their prime.

Deion Sanders off the top of my head. He played for Atlanta for 5 years(his initial contract) then jetted for SF for a year then Dallas.
