Bears signed DE Willie Young, formerly of the Lions, to a three-year, $9 million contract.

Young get $3.95 million guaranteed. Renovating the defensive line was GM Phil Emery's focus heading into free agency, and he's replaced DEs Julius Peppers and Corey Wootton with Lamarr Houston and Young. 28-year-old Young amassed 48 quarterback hurries in Detroit last season. He should play a lot of left end.

Staff needs to get up in Doms ass and work a hard count. Consistant drives can be had without handing off or completing a pass.

Whelp, so much for him returning. That's not a terrible deal- I wouldn't have been upset a bit if we had inked him to that same contract. Pretty cheap for an effective starting DE, all-in-all...

What a shame. Unreal. Millenhew has a lot of work to do on defense. Our best unit just got worse, and the two bad units are still bad.

My guess is the Lions see Devin Taylor as a starter now and don't want to spend too much money on rotational players. Personally I think Taylor has more upside than Young. Willie will be in a better psoitiion where he can be a full time player. Wish him the best (except the 2 games against us).

As good as Young is he is prone to the stupid mistake. One less 15 yard unsportsmen like penalty at the most damaging time the Lions have to worry about.

Devin Taylor is quite possibly the only player in college football history who, over a 4 year span, regressed in numbers & production with each successive season. In his one or so starts/extended snaps last year, he did nothing. I have no faith in him as a starter going forward.

And Tapp is a waste of space, by the way.

in reality, willie young probably did more damage to us than he did positive. All those false starts added up would be alot of yardage.

You didn't watch very closely then did you? Are you just looking at the stat sheets again?

He's nothing without playing next to Suh and Fairely. The good news for the Bears is he won't get to the QB enough to make any stupid penalties once he gets there.

10 tackles and a sack. He's only thirty...... Who the fuck am I kidding? Guy hasn't started a game since 2011. Somehow the Lions found a way to get older and less athletic today. Mind blowing how people can spin some of this garbage in a positive light.

Maybe Willie didn't want to play here anymore, just like Suh. Why is Mayhew still here again?

Agreed- anyone actually watching the games saw a surprisingly promising young player.

I was in the same boat prior to the season starting- judging by his college stats and regression I wasn't very happy. But he was actually far more NFL ready than I anticipated.

I guess I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty encouraged by his potential going forward, especially with the attention his fellow line-mates will be receiving from the opposing offense...
