Can't remember why Greinke was really considering us and went to LA. That's about the closest I can think of along with Lee but he did not think we would do well in 2011 so went where he thought there was a great chance for a ring with Philly.

But for whatever reason they always go elsewhere.

FA pitchers don't sign here because some genius wanted to build an outdoor stadium in one of the hottest parts of the country. Houston and Arizona have roofs. We'll get pitchers when we get a new ballpark.

Please name big FA pitchers than have signed on to Houston and their roofed stadium....Hell tell me about the same that have joined the Diamonbacks in the last 5 years or more...

The Astros don't attract pitchers because they suck.... And same reason for the D-backs. Pitchers would've signed with us a few years ago when we were really good if they didn't have to suffer in the heat.

The reasons vary, but the bottom line is it just doesn't happen. They never come here.

that's not set in stone. you can not look at what's happened before and make an absolute statement that the Rangers are never going to sign anyone

what is your F'n issue?

My issue is you're being intentionally obtuse. I have to believe that because we've conversed enough that I believe you're a reasonably intelligent person so I refuse to believe you're as dense as your arguments are indicating right now.

I mean no offense to you, but that is a very incredibly optimistic point of view. Lee didn't like the heat and Greinke preferred LAD over us and not because of the money.

Greinke said the money was the deciding factor very clearly in an interview. :L

not talking about the top pitchers. talking about a good MORP's who would be looking for a good 3 or 4 year contract

If a #3 pitcher wanted to sign a 1 or 2 year deal then fine. I would rather pitch our youngsters i n 2015 though.

sorry that you feel that way. i am not trying to be obtuse. i just believe that you are not going to get quality MORP's with 1 or 2 year deals

I can. You choose not to. That's fine.

Dbacks had a homegrown staff in 2011.... Their big need was hitting.

Their offense was middle of the pack, but that park helped them put enough runs to be competitive. BTW both parks you marked as a better environment for pitchers based on the roof are extreme hitters parks....

Which is the real reason pitchers don't like pitching in Texas, because despite the last couple of seasons and offensive numbers being down, they see Globe Life as a bandbox.

That depends on if the club feels like they have a legitimate shot to compete next year. If the right pieces come together, I believe we do.

Moreso than our park since they opened up the area behind home plate according to park effects.

Exactly. It will take 5 years to change the perception that Globe Life is a hitters paradise. It's still not totally neutral but moving in that direction.
