The Rockies will be getting some players back and their division is arguably not as difficult as ours...so our chance of losing more than they will is a distinct probability!!

That is why I didn't bring up Young. I did mention not having Hamilton and Cruz and their power hurting our power numbers.

i think the telling number is the number of opponent HR's from year to year. our pitching has gotten worse over the years from 2001 to now but the number of HR's surrendered has gone down. in 2011 our pitchers gave up 102. in 2012 they gave up 94 and after the changes our pitchers gave up only 74 in 2013 and we'll be close to that number this year.

Nope, but that was a dumb play by him.

I hesitate to say dumb.....but he looked like a Little Leaguer with no idea of where he was. And he's way too experienced a player to be "potentially" having a long term negative effective on his career to make a play like that.

It's dumb to not know where you are on the field. He had a pretty crappy read on the ball, because even if he were at the wall to time the jump it wasn't gong to be playable.

You're not going to get an argument from me really.

I kind hate it for him, b/c I've always liked him. Not wildly so, but he plays the game hard (obviously), and shows respect. Good, not great, hard-nosed player. One might say a grinder type.

And Holy crap he hit that fence hard.

I think he would agree he was pretty dumb if he cost him a couple of weeks of play time. Guys do boneheaded things in baseball a lot. It takes a lot of concentration. If you lose your mind for a second or two things like this can happen and you can get hurt.

He's not a top level free agent like a Scherzer, Verlander, Darvish, Kershaw, or Price would be.

Seriously, it's part of the game I love so dearly. Not running into the fence....but the concentration it takes for such a long period of time, and to make matters worse, often times under poor weather or team performance issues.

He hasn't been a main man for the better part of 2 seasons. But some won't let go.
