how would they be favored to win the division? changing conferences would do nothing for them as far as wins and losses go. they would still top out at barely making a bowl in a good year

Bro, do you even football??? They're ESS EEE SEEE, no question they would dominate dahell outta them weenified Beeg Twelb teams ('cept for Baylor).

How do you figure the ACC is stable, when they have the worst tv deal, and don't even own their own tier 3 content? Also as wild turkey pointed out in a previous thread, the only way the SEC can make more $$$ on expansion is to add a north Carolina and Virginia school. I bet it is the same for the B1G, and the B1G loves them some AAU schools (Virginia & UNC)

Do you ever hear of Conference Realignment turmoil STARTING out of the ACC? No. All the turmoil starts out of the Big 12, and then floats over to suck in ACC schools. Only one school has had some sort of outburst from their ex Chairman of the Board, Florida State. The rest of the ACC schools remain mum.

If you can, link any articles where a current ACC school has expressed unhappiness with the ACC and wants to leave within the past year. They probably exist.

There is this from over one year ago

I doubt you see any articles until the GOR is up. Before the GOR Florida state made some noise, and Maryland left. $$$ talks, and the ACC is so far behind on $$$$ that I don't see them just accepting it.

I agree 100% and their commissioner Swofford should be allowed to retire with dignity immediately. The football really is a sleeping giant with FSU, Clemson, Miami and VT. Honestly UNC has zero excuse to not have been more successful.

Frank McGuire and Dean Smith dislike this

The only real question is what will happen with the current schools when the Big 12 inevitably implodes?

I don't see the ACC imploding. It is actually a sleeping giant. They have a great footprint and excellent recruiting grounds. It is has just been horribly managed. Tabacco Road crew has focused far too much on basketball.

This is actually the argument and reasons WHY it can implode.

ALL the football schools are tired of being controlled by the basketball schools. FSU very vocally wanted OUT not too long ago.....they are losing money in buckets. All their facilities need upgrades.....and the money isn't there. They have no clout because Duke/UNC etc run the conference. They are not happy. And they aren't the only ones.

If they had a get out of the ACC free card, I GUARANTEE YOU they'd already be gone.

a team that has lost to Western Kentucky, Houston, Temple, kentucky, Cinci, Uconn, Wake Forest over the last few years is not going to even contend

The B12 will eventually fall and be cannibalized by the other conferences. There will be 4 conferences, 18 teams each, conference champs go to the CFB Playoffs.

I actually kind of like this idea, except divisions are more like conferences. 8 game division schedule counts for league play, plus 1 preseason game vs. each of the other 3 conferences and 1 from the other division. That turns the conference title game into the first round of an 8 team playoff. That would be fun.

Right now you have a few independents and LHN keeping this from happening. But the B12 will not benefit from any of these potential scrubs and there is too much conflict with 5 conferences and a committee ranking the teams. 4 conferences 8 divisions conference championship gets you into the playoffs. It's a win-win.

FSU and Clemson had the card several years ago and even though there was serious talk of leaving they decided against it and signed over their TV rights.

If they were going to make the move they would have done it and Big 12 is doing it's best to make it an easy choice to stay put. You think any schools want to be in a league where Texas has such a huge revenue advantage with the LHN?

The Big 12 is toxic.

At least in the big 12 they'd have a chance to sell their tier 3 rights, in the ACC ESPN got it for free. West Virginia gets 9mil a year from tier 3, you don't think FSU could get a nice check?

The ACC is winning titles. It is 100% stable.
Notre Dame is eventually going to be a full-time member. It is inevitable.
And when the Irish join full-time, the ACC will get a giant payraise and further stability injection.

This idea of the Big 12 raiding the ACC is comically absurd.
The power to raid belongs to the ACC in that dynamic.

If anything, it is just easier for Texas/Kansas/Oklahoma to join the ACC instead of some convoluted hope that the SEC raids them first and the Big 12 can get leftovers from what the SEC/Big 10 don't want.

And since ESPN owns the 1st/2nd/3rd tier rights of ACC teams.
The Longhorn Network is easiest to bundle into the ACC more than any other conference.

Prob not now, the days of overpaying for things like LHN and WVU's T3 rights are over. No way LHN gets renewed and no way Texas' t3 rights are worth 15mm per year when it doesn't .

is it really that much greater than everybody else? '

what we're talking about here is Tier 3: Texas gets 15m, OU gets what, 9m? WVU 9m? Kansas? KSU?

the only discrepancy is this tier 3 money...in SEC, tier 3 is the same for everybody, same in B1G?

Some schools are always going to make more money than others: Even if Texas and Baylor made the same exact Tier 3 money, Texas is still going to be a wealthier school. Same with Michigan, OSU, etc.

Seems like everytime people complain about Texas, the solution they propose is Socialism...take from the rich and give to those less fortunate. Well, that aint gonna happen.

You don't hear anyone in the SEC, ACC, B1G or PAC bitching about this stuff as everyone is on bd with the program. You might here some bitching about more money but not inequality.

Out of all the other P5 schools only the ACC had one defection, Maryland, and no one gave a crap about that one. The Big 12 has had 4 defection with 2 of them being major players in the league.

You're toxic bro and it's time to look in the mirror.

The LONGHORN NETWORK is nice, but the huge revenue advantage of any school doesn't come from conference monies.

Conference Money is only a small part of Texas revenue. It is only a small part of any top program.
Texas would still be #1 in the Big 12 if it gave all its conference money to charity.

Auburn makes 51 million dollars more than Mississippi State in revenue.

why don't you give that 51 million to the Bulldogs if sharing money is so important??
