Of course not. But the chances of him turning into arguably the best TE to ever play in the NFL is beyond low. Even if he's a great TE, there's only so much you can help a team at that position. If the Lions drafted Oliver, their DL immediately would have been one of the best in the NFL. They started the season last year as one of the worst teams at getting to the QB and could have flipped that in a single season. Ultimately, a TE is just a TE.
Fair point. Definitely were some strong defensive options that could've made an immediate impact. Oliver would've been horrifying on that line.

Confused is a better term. After Pittsburgh moved up and too my preferred 1st choice in Bush, Gary is a gamble that seems desparate at best. Maybe a position change is in the future? IDK

Trading up for a safety when there were 3 left on the board? Maybe they got the best one, but giving up a couple of 4ths. I just don't see the value.

Yes. WR was the thinnest position of need on the team and they actually had their pick of the litter on that position when they picked. Getting 2 extra picks makes it better.

You get a little worried about Brown's size but there's been a couple of small WR that have and are doing good in the NFL.

Oh man, that is not a good picture. She has not aged well. Looks like she had too much work done, because she was pretty good looking back in the day.

Everyones happy for the most part at this point.

BUT HELL YEAH. if we wanted a LB we had to move up. THeres people that have called d. bush the best pound for pound player in this draft.

We needed a side to side, coverage ILB to replace shazier. THis dude flys and loves to hit. We gave iup a 2nd and 3rd to move up for him, but to jump to a top 10 pick i dont think thats crazy. I also love how its 1 pick this year, 1 pick next year.

Granted we need TE help, CB help and losing those picks hurt. BUt this was our BIGGEST need.

Steelers dont trade up, really ever. we trade back. They only trade up if they think they have an exceptional or generational talent. Last time they did, they got Troy Polamalu. I hope they're right.

This draft made a lot of sense for a few reasons.

1...they had the draft capital and were able to hold on to most of it, only losing 1 pick (#52) this year.

2...the Steelers now realize that just putting a body at the Mack LB role and hoping to cover up his limitations with a sub packages was not working.

3...they didn't view Mack Wilson or any other LB not named Devin as being a long term answer for the Mack LB position.

Atlanta drafted two offensive linemen. I have never seen either of them play and I don't know anything about them.
Really wish Christian Wilkins would have gotten to the Falcons, you think y'all would have grabbed him?

I don't know the answer to that but I wouldn't have complained about getting a player of his caliber on the defensive line. The last time we took a d lineman from Clemson things turned out well for us.

Am I missing something here? Isn't TE a major need for Detroit, and you guys got the top guy at the position?
Yeah but a possible Aaron Donald v2 and linebackers were there (both bigger needs) for the taking and we grab a TE?! Massive fail.

I don't understand the NYG picks.

@#6 they reached for a QB that would have been there later and then moved up again in the first round to take a lesser CB than Greedy (LSU). They could have grabbed Ed Oliver @ 6, then Greedy or Jones, then Jones or Greedy.

If they knew full well they planned on making a move to get back into the first then they messed this up IMO

I’m content with it so long as Devin Bush stays healthy and proves to be the player they have been desperately missing since Shazier was lost.

Essentially only giving up a 2nd to move into the top 10 was huge! (3rd Rd pick is washed by Lev’s departure comp).

Bush will probably get his feet wet in a dime role since the Steelers acquired Mark Barron to play Mack LB. But we’ll have to wait & see how they do in camps.
