Look I applaud Murray for what he's done, but the guy had one full season out of 4 years that he's been in the league. He also ran 392 carries JUST during the regular season and another 44 in the playoffs for 436 total.

If Cowboys are smart you let him go. That offensive line is STACKED. There's no reason you can't plug another runningback behind it and expect 1,300 yards/10 TDs.

It seems Murray is fishing for money, and I'm just waiting for him to go down again. I hope all the best for the kid and am certainly not wishing injury upon him, just calling a spade a spade.

As to the Eagles and Murray talking /facepalm. The Eagles are CJ Spiller away from creating the biggest injury prone backfield in ALL of sports history (they've already created in NFL history, but we're just going to include whatever backfield exists for the rest of sports and lump that in should Spiller/Murray get signed).

Yep.

He wants $8-9 mil per and DAL has offered $5mil per...reportedly.

Murray's agent is the fool here...yes, the production has been there for LY...no GM expects him to repeat that again. DAL needs him, but should hold firm on their #...RBs just are not going to be allowed to take up more than $6mil in cap space...Shady is going to redo his deal in BUF.

So do you think Jerry is trying to run Murray off with a lowball offer so he can bring AP to Dallas?
I have no idea what Jerry is thinking and neither do most Cowboys fans. I would hope he has a plan B.

That would imply Jerry had a Plan A, which is no guarantee with him.

I'm surprised the Cardinals haven't tried to make a move for a RB so far.

Dallas now calling around for other RBs. Cowboys know they've lost DeMarco Murray to the Eagles.

Meaning Jerry is calling the vikings asking how much for AP lol

For months now I have been wanting the Vikes to keep Peterson. But honestly the way everything is falling together right now I am not sure I would turn down a trade offer from the Cowboys if they actually presented a real offer (something approaching 1st round value even if it is a 2nd and a 4th or something like that).

This draft is just so crazy deep at RB's and so many teams simply aren't going to be in a position where they feel the need to select one early....especially with the talent that is going to be sitting on the board a little later in the draft.

If I am setting up my offseason at this point (on any and every team), I use my FA's signing to set up the roster with the intention of selecting a RB in the 2nd-4th round no matter what.

The Cowboys will have to give something up for AP though, he won't come cheap. I think they're better off signing a guy like Spiller and then going with either another lower tier vet or getting a mid round guy.

Report: Cowboys 'know they've lost' RB Murray to Eagles

Free agent running back DeMarco Murray is on his way to visit the Eagles and is expected to sign with them, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. Murray paced the NFL with 1,845 rushing yards last season as he helped Dallas to the playoffs.

With Murray on his way out, the Cowboys are "calling around" for other running backs, Schefter added. The Cowboys "know they've lost" Murray to their divisional rivals, per Schefter.

Yahoo Sports reported Murray was upset with the Cowboys' most recent offer of $5 million annually. Murray's father, Kevin Murray, told the Dallas Morning News on Thursday morning that his 27-year-old son headed to Philly with an open mind, prepared to give Dallas a chance to increase its offer.

“My impression from talking to him this morning is that he loves his coach, he loves his teammates and the Dallas fans,” Kevin Murray told the paper, “but he's just hurt that something hasn't happened to lure him not to take the trip right now."

With Murray poised to join Chip Kelly's offense, former Chargers running back Ryan Mathews might back out on his previously reported agreement with Philly. Mathews would struggle for touches in a backfield featuring Murray, Darren Sproles and goal-line specialist Chris Polk.

Time to find a RB

No way I would do that if I am making decisions for the Cowboys. Pay APs contract and give up a first or close to it? But, I wouldn't pay his contract if he was cut and cost nothing in return because I don't think he is worth what he is going to get when I could just keep Murray instead and for less. So to turn around and go even higher for AP would be dumb to me. But, Jerry loves his stars

Maybe they are saving their money for the draft.

I'd rather they draft Gordon.

People here in MN have been freaking out over how much AP makes too.

To me it makes no sense. AP becomes the focus of the defense whenever he is on the field. His impact on how defenses play your offense is similar to how Calvin Johnson effects coverages. Murray and RB's like him don't do that. That is why AP is worth a huge deal where others usually aren't.

It's why if they trade Peterson for anything less than 1st round value, you will be to find me out on a ledge somewhere. :faint:

Yeah I am in that camp too at the moment, just wanted to use that first pick on a pass rusher, but hey there are good players throughout the draft

The rookies won't be commanding large salaries. This is a very deep draft for that position though.

I'm a bit surprised that he is getting that kind of money, but Chip has just gone full Kamikaze mode this yr, so nothing from him surprises me....

That would be a nice pick. Do a running back by committee with Gordon, Randle and Dunbar. Randle did average 6.7 ypc whenever he touched the ball. Best OL in the NFL, Cowboys will be fine without Murray. I liked Murray, good guy and all, but just too injury proned and too much of a liability with his fumbling problems.
