I really believe people lose sight of how difficult the NFL is to officiate. This isn't baseball where 1-2 people are around nearly every close call. Not up to a dozen. No penalties. Safe, out, catch, no catch. Balls/strikes another story but they choose not to just let lasers handle it.

There can be up to a dozen huge guys all moving at top speed when looking at plays on the line. And how about catch/no catch? Sure, probably only 1-2 players involved but need to know does he catch it....did he maintain all the way through.......were both feet in bounds (kind of hard to see feet and if he caught at same time)....also, was he interfered with.

MLB has the sheer number of events in its favor.
In general, umps get 99%+ of the calls correct.
The rate of close 1st base calls is astonishingly accurate, too.
But, as you mentioned, it's one human focusing on one event at one locked location.

I can't wait for electronic balls/strikes, although it does take the pitch framing skill away from certain catchers.

If we do not understand something, that doesn't mean it's rigged.

When a ref sees a play, it can take a few seconds to register what it is that they are seeing.
Then comes the reflex to pull the flag.
Maybe that takes another few seconds.
Or maybe they weren't sure what they saw the first time around, so now they have taken a few seconds to process the information and now they determine that it was a penalty and then they go for their flag.

Could take 5-10 seconds to throw a flag after 'witnessing' a potential penalty.

I think the Lions got screwed, but there's no way the ref saw the result of the play, then threw the flag to 'protect' whatever possible conspiracy was occurring.

I can understand, these refs are way to good to miss so many obvious calls. It's ok if it's fixed lol still entertaining either way

Even the retarded media was writing about it endlessly. Booger was 100% correct and the writers are repeating it.

Just take your undeserved screwjob win and STFU.

Packers had 1 bad call in their history that cost them a game and we still have you guys crying about it. Imagine if this happened to the Packers. We would hear about it for the next 50 years.

The Lions failed throughout the game and should have had the game wrapped up way before those final 2 calls:

Reasons for a Lions loss:

Packers kicking a field goal but 12 men on the field by the Lions gives a first down and Packers score a TD. A 4 point difference right there and last field goal would not have mattered.

Lions running game was paltry

Mr Stafford was 12 of 16 in passing and like 220 yards in the first half and second half was like 6 of 16 for about 60 yards so he failed in the second half.

3rd down efficiency was like 3 of 12 which is not all that good.

A positive 3 turnovers and only 5 field goals and a questionable TD to show for it.

Many reasons for the Lions loss that if improved upon would make these questionable calls not matter at all

no matter the game, no matter the team

it's bad game after game and has determined a lot of results

so NBA like

Bad calls are part of all sports. Great teams overcome bad calls. Mediocre teams complain about them.

True, and all those things kept the game from being a 30 point Lions blowout win.

Even Rodgers said after the game that this didn't feel like a win. He himself knows his team played like shit and won because they had some luck with bad calls.

The average NFL play lasts less than 5 seconds. There are 22 players playing all at the same time all across the field. It is impossible to have the proper angle on every play.

Let's just look back fondly at the play that ultimately brought official review back to the NFL..

There is always an element of luck in a winning season.

Maybe take the refs off the field then and put them in front of TVs like the rest of us who have no problem spotting bullshit calls.

Plus the Lion fans are maybe forgetting the gift Aaron Jones gave them when there was nobody within 4 seconds of him and a pass right in his hands where he could have walked in the end zone keeping the Lion's lead intact

but the problem with today's instant replay is most likely they say the play stands that was called on the field.
Even instant replay is pathetic right now.

That could work. The games would last 5 hours but we wouldn't have to worry about bad calls then.

I prefer that they err on not overturning calls.

sure. if you are absolutely not sure.

but to try & come up with stretching is there a chance I might be wrong (from call on the field like if it is a court of law) That is bullshit.
Use Instant replay with common sense.
Fuck the refs feelings (or teams feelings for that matter)

I still think technology will ultimately be the answer. A chip in that guy's helmet should have been able to tell if someone touched his facemask or not. They'll get there eventually. Granted, adding the electronic stuff in the helmets to monitor everything will eventually cause brain cancer to the players, but once they are all replaced with robots that won't be an issue.

So because the Packer kept it close it is justified for the refs to help them do what they couldn't do by themselves?
