Smith is flying to Miami to visit Sunday with the Dolphins, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The 49ers have been working to re-sign Smith, the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2005 who made a comeback in 2011 under first-year coach and former NFL QB Jim Harbaugh, and Smith has acknowledged he was happy with their three-year offer

I'm not sold that the Niners can truly sign Peyton at this point unless he takes a big discount in order to have the best chance to win another SB, or if the Niners can make a lot of cap magic happen via restructuring/cuts (Haralson?).

If you are on twitter, check this guy's tweets out. He was on the plane with Smith to Miami, coincidentally. You have to go back several hours to get the whole story. He also snapped a pic in FL. I find it interesting he was on a commercial flight.

Except for the whole Cutler was traded while Smith/Manning are FA...but don't let those details get in the way. The Niners are playing this as they seem confident in Kaep's progression up to this point. In Harbaugh/Baalke I trust.
