I like Hicks.

But he may be advised to at the very least get that slugging % over .300....

oh man, that .058 ISO lol. At least there's a .351 OBP to keep him from being totally useless.

Hicks batting .321 this month

Put some damn respect on his name @nynasty @Pure Steel
Let's hope he keeps it up. If he performs that makes it much easier to keep Gallo and his .186 batting average (.295 OBP pathetic) on the bench. Hicks also has a 351 OBP so if he can get on track he could be moved back to lead off even if the power numbers don't come around.

Much better than the .186 Gallo is hitting

Gallo with a OPS of .667 and OPS+ of 93

Hicks with a OPS of .646 and OPS+ of 92

They are basically evquivalents in suck. Lucky for Yanks they dont really need much more.

With his OBP over 350 Hicks is at least getting on base. They can put him at the top of the line up where his power numbers won't hurt as much. But to your point, yeah, they've both sucked so far.

At least Hicks is showing some signs of coming out of it. If he gets his batting average up to 265 and his OBP over 370 I can live with a lack of power in CF

Absolutely, but he has been a huge disappointment after signing a contract that I thought at the time was very good value…..we shall see if he can continue to contribute…..holding my breath on Gallo

I didn't like the contract even when it was signed even though the price looked reasonable. Hicks had at that point had one good season. That being said, I'd love him to prove me wrong.

I thought the Hicks contract looked pretty reasonable at the time. He had hit .255/.369/.470 with a 125 OPS+ and 8.3 WAR in 225 games in 2017-18. I thought he had a really good chance of being a regular 2+ WAR player.
