Very hard to see them finishing under 100 wins at this point. .500 from here on out gets you to 97 wins. They're very capable of doing much better than that.

let the blasphemy begin:suds:

Red Sox recalled INF Jeter Downs from Triple-A Worcester.

Downs, who was acquired from the Dodgers in the Mookie Betts trade, was widely-regarded as a top-100 prospect in the game entering last year, but his stock has fallen considerably ever since. He's hit just .187/.281/.355 with 25 homers and 29 steals in 627 plate appearances in 152 games over the last two seasons at the Triple-A level. The 23-year-old offers plenty of defensive versatility and should serve as a utility infielder for the Red Sox moving forward.

No it didn't.

But Boone is still a moron. I present his pitching and pinch running decisions yesterday as exhibit A.
As far as the pitching I'm not sure who was available. King had pitched 2 innings the day before and Wandy had been solid going into yesterday. Castro has been decent as well.

I honestly think this had more to do with the Sox being forced to trim the roster to 13 pitchers. He's had a better AAA campaign this year, but we're still talking a sub-.700 OPS and he's got a K% north of 30%.

Not a fan of his tendency to let tired starters start an inning, put guys on base, then he goes to the pen. Better to give the reliever a clean inning, especially if you know your starter is gassed.

Hard to complain when it's only your 17th loss and it's June 19th, but that was a bad loss.

Probably going to see more of that with the 13 pitcher limit.

It happens a few times during a 162 game season
