That was the best thing to happen to the Yankees. Steinbrenner was banned for 2 years and Gene Michael was able to build the mid to late 90s dynasty with zero interference. Remember, George wanted to trade Pettitte to Philadelphia and Rivera to Seattle for Felix fucking Fermin.

Thank god for Howie Spira I say!
He also hated Bernie Williams and wanted him traded

Traded one of my favorites to make room for Bernie. Of course that trade brought Paul O'Neill back.
I wasn't a fan of that trade at the time but it worked out. IN my defense O'neil hit 246 with 14 HR's and 66 RBI's in 1993 and the book on him was he couldn't hit lefties

And wanted to sign Albert Belle and let Bernie walk in '98., He did let Stick overrule him on that thank god.
By 1998 George finally began to understand Stick knew what he was doing.

Not a Yankee game for the ages for Cole but a win on the road against a 1st place team is always welcomed Not sure what it is about the Yankee pinstripes that makes Twin teams soil their linens.

Some positive signs

Hicks may be turning it around. Up to 232

Trevino continues to hit batting 283 with a 790 OPS. No power numbers but they have plenty of sluggers and not many players with a decent batting average. So far this guy was a real nice pick up by Cashman.

King with another solid inning so he looks like he righted the ship

Holmes continues to be an absolute beast out of the pen. 0.33 ERA

6 2/3 scoreless innings from the bullpen with only 1 hit and 2 walks.

Parlayed the Yanks and Rangers last night.

Thought the Yanks would wreck it after the HR derby vs Cole, but it was the Rangers that didn't hold up their end.

I never bet on my own teams, I feel bad enough when they lose and I don't need to lose money on top of it.

I hear that.

If you told me back in October the Rangers would make it to game 6 of the ECF I would have been ecstatic.

I'm not feeling too ecstatic today however. LOL

When you're up in game 2-0 and up 2 nothing in game 3 the whole "They're a good young team and way ahead of schedule" isn't much of a consolation.

Lightning are still the defending champs for a reason though.

And the 2-0 series lead was holding serve at home.

The 2-0 lead in game 3, couple PP goals. The lightning dominated that game.

Its been an impressive run by the Rangers and its not over yet. But tough to fault them if the Bolts pull it out in 6 or 7

I actually picked the Bolts in 5 so I'm relatively happy with the Rangers progress. They are easily the youngest team in the playoffs and one of the youngest teams in the league.
