So far betting on himself seems like the right move. I know they can't take this year into account for the arbitration next week but the Yanks should just give him the high end of the arbitration. Even at 21 mil he's a bargain.

And minimize any bad blood going into the off-season.

They cannot let him go, under any circumstances.

Has he said he has wanted to remain in NY?

He's said more than once he wants to stay but always throws in a "But you never know" and the ole "It's a business" when he does.

And he probably gets hurt a year or two into his enormous, way too long contract…..

Probably. But if they do institute the electronic balls and strikes and they stop calling strikes for pitches below his knees he may walk 200 times a year. That or they'll actually have to throw him strikes.

If Devers drew walks he'd probably be the best player in baseball.

That trio in Boston is fucking insane.

I'd be ecstatic if he could get his walk rate in line with 2021, but it's hard to complain about a .369 OBP. I do feel like Devers has looked much better defensively at 3rd so far this year, I'm feeling more optimisic about him sticking at 3rd.

Yankees beat the Rays, Jays lost to the O's. Yanks are 9 games up in the loss column on the Jays and 10 on the Rays. Did not see this coming, especially after the 7-6 start. When they don't hit they pitch and when they don't pitch (rare I know) they hit.

Holmes is frightening and after a rough week a couple of weeks back King is back to dominating. Chapman, Johnny Lasagna and Chad Green out and the bullpen doesn't miss a beat. Wandy Peralta 1.61 ERA.
