I'll take that move every time. Nice work.

Upgrades Moss, and should have enough left in the tank to hold that spot for a few more years. Checks veteran leadership off the list for Kap and Jenkins. We could still go WR early in this draft if it's BPA, but more likely we load up the defense, and then add a mid-round WR to replace Manningham.

We give up a 6th Rd pick which in best case scenario is a K or key ST contributor. More likely inactive/PS material.

Okay - so the next receiver added will have punt return skills.

Not sure which of #49ers sixth-round picks (No. 12 in round via #Dolphins in 2011 deal; or No. 31) did they exchange for Anquan Boldin

Great fit IMO! Good blocker, red zone threat, and someone that can make a tough catch when you need it. Well worth a 6th rounder.

And plus we still have yet another 6th round pick left to use.

Adam Kramer:

In response to the flurry of moves, the Arizona Cardinals have given John Skelton a 5-year $170 million extension. YOUR MOVE, RAMS.

That would have been a little funny if the Cardinals hadn't just hired Steve Keim as general manager a few weeks ago.

No he was not! Apparently you did not watch the superbowl.

He wasn't the reason the 49ers lost, but he was a solid contribution to the loss with 104 yards and a TD. I almost threw my beer at the TV when he grabbed that prayer of a 3rd and long pass that Flacco threw 50 yards high (thanks to a more primary reason - our secondary breaking down in big plays).

Dont forget the 3rd and 1 in the 4th qtr and if we stop them they punt the ball, he snatched that pass right out of the air for a huge 1st down

@KyleBonagura: RT @ProFootballTalk: Vikings had offered a seventh-round pick for Anquan Boldin, per source with knowledge of the discussions.

PFF's numbers:

Boldin ran 527 total routes this season, 328 of them from the slot = 62.2% from the slot.

Crabtree ran 433 total routes this season, 146 of them from the slot = 33.7% from the slot.

Kyle Williams ran 80 of 148 routes in the slot = 54.1%
Manningham ran 45 of 249 routes in the slot = 18.1%
Moss ran 33 of 213 routes in the slot = 15.5%
Ginn ran 5 of 23 routes in the slot = 21.8%
Jenkins ran 4 of 22 routes in the slot = 18.1%

Glazer "thinks" the 49ers were the team who offered a 2nd round pick to Minnesota for Harvin on Saturday.

Anquan Boldin - WR - 49ers

49ers acquired WR Anquan Boldin from the Ravens in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick.

The Ravens were on the verge of releasing Boldin, so GM Ozzie Newsome did well to get a pick back for a receiver entering his age-33 season and still clearing all of his $6 million base salary off of the books. Boldin adds another physical possession receiver to Colin Kaepernick's arsenal, though we'd expect Boldin to take a bit of a backseat to Crabtree and Vernon Davis in 2013. As great as Boldin was in the playoffs, he does not create separation. To fully capitalize on Kaepernick's arm, the 49ers either need A.J. Jenkins to step up as a vertical stretcher, or they'll need to find one someplace else. Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter

a 6th rounder isn't a high price but still, is this the type of WR we needed? but Boldin does have good hands so guess this fits with catching bullets.

Next step is to restructure to a three year deal and cut down the $6 million salary hit. Backload it to the final year so we can get two years out of him. And stuff it full of incentives to get him to sign off on it.

Obviously doesn't bring the impact that Harvin brings to Seattle but doesn't cost a 1st, 7th, mid round 2014, and a multi year 11+ million contract either.

6 million is pretty reasonable and the 6th round pick isn't much of a cost considering Boldin is way better than the STer and maybe doesn't make the roster player we would've gotten with the 6th round pick.

I really like the move because Boldin is great in the RZ and that was a major problem with us last season and despite not having that get separation speed he finds a way to get open, make tough catches, and get tough yards along with being a great run blocker.

Having Boldin is going to add far more than what Moss brought to the table on the field last season.

He is strong, can break tackles, hes a good blocker and has great hands. We will get our vertical threat, either AJ will step up or we will get someone in the draft
