He was pissed and demanded a trade by the Tigers to a team as far away from dougplayer as possible. As they dragged his away from the microphone he was mumbling something about signing somewhere in Korea.

Verlander numbers were better

Not that much better. Verlander was a much better strikeout pitcher, but Porcello also walked far fewer batters, did a better job keeping the ball inside the park, and they had identical WHIPs. Porcello had a much better ERA+ (Verlander had a slightly better raw ERA, but he pitched in a much more favorable ballpark than Porcello) and they were tied in WAR per Fangraphs. Verlander had a slightly better xFIP, but Porcello had a slightly better FIP.

C'mon...let's face the plain hard truth. Verlander would have won the AL CYA if dougplayer hadn't picked him to win! We have all seen the results when doug picks a team, player, politician, or whatever to prevail....DEFEAT. The very second doug said Verlander was his choice for the AL Cy Young Award...Verlander was eliminated. In fact, he was damn lucky he took second. My heart still goes out to the baseball fans along the Cuyahoga River whose dreams of a World Series trophy were dashed as soon as dougplayer switched over and picked the Indians to win the WS. A crying shame.
