Agreed. They're bringing in Coco Crisp in the hopes that he can carry their offense. Total desperation move. Although, I suppose I can understand it, after all, they only scored 20% more runs than the Tigers in August. . .

Tigers 10 games above 500. Soon to be 11.
It's almost time for indans to remember who they are....then the spiral will begin

But doug...the Tribe is 4.5 games better! You predicted Sept 2 as the date the AL Central would all be sorted out! That is TWO days away!!!!
:gaah:
(I hope it all sorts out, doug. I bet the farm through your "Dougplayer's 'Smart Money' Sportsbook", that Detroit wins the Central.)

AL CENTRAL

Cleveland: 75-56, --

Detroit: 71-61, 4.5 GB

Kansas City: 69-63, 6.5 GB

It seems like the Indians should have pulled away weeks ago, but maybe we were just fooled by June, when they went 22-6 and outscored opponents 143-75. The rest of the season they're just two games over .500, including a 12-12 record in July and 14-14 in August. That has allowed the Tigers and now -- amazingly -- the Royals to hang close.

After going a major league worst 7-19 in July, the Royals have gone 20-7 in August, which includes a three-game sweep at Detroit. The Tigers have gone a woeful 5-20 against the Royals and Indians, including 1-11 against Cleveland, in which they've been outscored 79-36. They'll have a chance at redemption with home-and-home series against both clubs.

Grade: C The Indians have held the lead since June 4. Will we get a dramatic finish? Or will it be the Year of Cleveland?

Detroit is losing and the Tribe has Cy Kluber on the mound. Lets hope that lead is back up to 5.5 after today.

Meh. They've also had one of the top three records in the AL since June 30th, so it's not like they've been losing ground.

Measured by wins/losses, runs scored, runs allowed, or run differential, they're one of the ALs top teams and should win the division. Of course, there's a month of baseball left, so we'll see.
