Doug, I cannot agree with everything you say, but I know where coming from and this thread is better for it. It appears you leave some people fraid and ascared. Yes my good man, if you owned him any more you'd be arrested for slavery.

Past your bed time, isn't it Ned? oikly doikly?

Yes...like I said, two real good pitching performances....but the team didn't get much out of it. They didn't even gain ground on Boston in the Wild Card chase. If nothing else, however, it gives hope for next year....maybe even this year, if Norris can join the ''rookie'' party.

Yeah, I get it. I guess what I'm saying is... coming off three straight losses to start the road trip, I did not expect 2 of 3 in Texas, let alone two shutouts.

Yeah, the Tigers have lost 5 of their last 7. They also faced deGrom, Iwakuma, King Felix, Darvish and Hamels over that stretch. Some very tough pitchers.

Well doug, Fulmer will be considered for sure. But I saw a prediction on CBS for ROY...I think he was listed 5th

BTW...Happ and Sanchez in Toronto are a better 1-2 punch. Several better in NL
ESPN's Cy predictor has Happ in the lead right now (Sanchez is 4th). Not even in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that happening.

Detroit and the Tribe do play 7 times in September, dont they?

should be interesting.....

Fullmer was unreal- i almost sat in my fbl w/ him facing Texas yesterday- thankfully i didnt.

I think the Indians with their lead and their bullpen with Miller are just gonna be too tough to overtake.

Zimmerman and Upton were not horrible signings- but they definitely werent good signings.

I'm guessing that you have really, really fucked up dreams, so I'm going with Jimbo Khaki Pants and the Michigan Wolverines. And when the game's over, the two teams will go to the Penn State showers to "clean up" with the Red Wings.

I think they've only got six head-to-head left. Could be wrong. I'm just basing that off the fact that they've played twelve (Indians won eleven of them) and usually they play intra-division rivals 18 times a year.

I love having Miller as a weapon for Francona- he has used him in such a multitude of ways already.

Having Miller/Allen/Shaw at the back end, -and the Indians rotation is a pretty nasty combination.

I know its WAY WAY WAY WAY to early to worry about next year- but Santana and Napoli- most of our power - are both FA's. I wonder - at age 34- what type of contract Nap would need to stay...2 years 28? Santana as well I would like them to bring back...

Jose Ramirez has been ripping it up too....guy has been amazing this year. Ramirez/Lindor/Kipnis is a damn good defensive infield- and every one of those guys can handle a bat too.

signing Upton to a long term deal - by any team- im not just saying the Tigers- is a bad idea...this guy has great years and terrible years consistently and you can tie a lot of it to his contract status i think...

That is the type of mistake that would haunt the Indians for years to come- if they signed a guy like upton to that deal and he just sucked....

I'm sorry, Wiggy, you're mistaken.

Signing Upton was a stroke of genius. $133MM for a .230/.286/.378/.664 slash line is a fucking steal. The not-so-limited no trade clause they gave him was also brilliant. In fact, the only problem with the contract is the opt out, because with his super-duper awesome hitting, well... I'll let @Marlins2003 tell you:

Upton.. who is almost GUARANTEED to opt out after 2017

raburn i thought actually played pretty decently here and he didnt cost much at all....i hardly think that is what you would classify a questionable signing....

bourn and swisher and hafner and westbrook? yah okay, lol. I dont think its a coincedence that once the Tribe finally got rid of Bourn and Swisher and found really solid replacements in Napoli and Davis- that they took off.

plus having great young players in Naquin, Lindor, Jose Ram, etc. certainly doesnt hurt.

Speaking of Upton, here's today's segment of MiamiVice Knows Fuckall. I'm your host, Slinkton Redfoot!

Are you retarded? Upton was an all star last year... and easily will be a all star again this year.
Or not.

Upton IS a better hitter than Kipnis.
Jason Kipnis wishes he was Justin Upton at the plate.
2016 to date
Upton - .230/.286/.378/.664
Kipnis - .291/.352/.500/.852

Yet you want to compare Jason Kipnis to Justin Upton at the plate and think they are comparable... Kipnis is lucky to hit 10 HR and get to 60 RBI..
2016 to date
Upton - 13 HR / 46 RBI
Kipnis - 20 HR / 65 RBI

Upton > Cespedes.
2016 to date
Upton - .230/.286/.378/.664
Cespedes - .289/.362/.548/.910

And just for good measure:

There is a reason why Cespedes didn't get a big long contract.. because before last year... He wasn't an elite hitter... Cespedes will not be repeating last year. Mets will be lucky to get 2014 version.
Cespedes Slash Lines
2014 - .260/.301/.450/.751
2015 - .291/.328/.542/.870
2016 - .289/.362/.548/.910

The tardation is strong in this one, folks!
