I attribute some of that to the fact that their fastest players (Kinsler, Davis, Gose) are also shitty OBP guys, while their slower guys are on the bases a lot more.

Kinsler has a career OBP of .344 and had an OBP of .342 in 2015.. He is hardly a shitty OBP guy.

Got the years wrong...ages 32-34 Ortiz significantly declined...he hit .257 with a 120 OPS+ during those 3 years, then suddenly was hitting like he was in his prime again.

Pujols and Frank Thomas are comparable to Miggy...they declined heavily in their early 30s and started breaking down.

The fact that he missed significant time last year for the first time in his career illustrates that Stan's point was not unfounded.
