This is my guess as well.
good ratings are nice.. but when you don't have that many people in the region.. high ratings are not as important. The funny part of Miami is that when you include the entire S. Florida region of W.Palm, Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.. its one of the largest TV markets... if they ever got a decent ownership group here.. there is a lot of money to be made off the Marlins.

It will be HUGE compared to the terrible deal they had, lol, but that isn't saying much.
The deal they had was signed when the Royals were cellar dwellars that got about the same ratings as Mauer Povich.

Tigers TV deal is up after the 2017 season... They are rumored to be in the mix for a deal similiar to the one the Phillies got a few years ago that paid about $100 mil a year... Tiger's TV market is much larger than KC's though.. I believe the Tigers TV market is the in the top 10 in size.

Royals at $20 are still the same or higher than Pitt, Rockies, Marlins and Rays. With the least amount of households.

especially because they have so many more households, their contracts REALLY suck, royals is bad, but not the worst apparently

hell, the tigers currently are only getting $40 mil, but double the amount of homes the Royals have. That current contract is actually pretty bad, its the same as the Royals contract.

well once again its incorrect.. The Tigers Fox Sports Detroit is available in the entire state of Michigan.. which once again has a population of 9.91 million.... the market size is figured by where the channel is available....

well the DMA is actually less than the households available at only 1.8 mil but KC at 1/2 of that too.

All this time I figured the Tigers had at least a good TV deal, theirs is actually as bad as the Royals.

In the early part of the 21st century, Major League Baseball finds itself the professional sport confined almost entirely to the largest consolidated statistical metropolitan areas (CSMAs) in the United States and Canada. While the other three major professional team sports in North America have numerous franchises in metropolitan areas with fewer than two million people, only three major league baseball teams are situated in such locales: the Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals and Milwaukee Brewers.

In what follows, the size of the particular CSMA is given, together with the baseball team(s) in that area. American League teams are shown in red and National League teams in blue. Cities shown in black italics represent metropolitan areas without major league baseball, but home to NBA basketball, NFL football, and/or NHL hockey teams.

Fox Sports Detroit is available in Northern Indiana n Ohio and part of Wisconsin close to the UP too.

That's all I have to add to the TV market/broadcast money portion of this thread.
