I have been scratching my head about this possibility for the last couple months.

If the Giants offer a QO, 1) would he accept rather than go after a multi-year pact? 2) if he accepted, would that be a bad thing?

At his age, he's probably gunning for a multi-year deal. Granted, a QO might destroy his value, so he might decide to cash out in a familiar environment. I don't think it would be the end of the world if he accepted it either. Blanco would certainly be out. If he declines, he's still one of the top 10 OFers on the market (that's how bad it is), so he should still find work somewhere.

Exactly why attracting a QO to Pagan may not kill his value. Hell, we could offer it, he could refuse it, and we could still sign him to a 2/20, with the understanding that he is a starter for 1 year and a we-will-see after that.

Not really sure why he didn't just stick with Romo, instead of getting 2 more guys in there to finish it off. But whatever.
Lefty/lefty matchup for the next 2 batters. Bochy is Bochy, after all.

Some tough luck for the bully there in the 9th, but they still looked good.

I notice that "milk" has basically died since I mentioned I was over it a while back.

Guys, if you still like the practice, have at it. Don't let me dictate the memes we use here...

That's why saves are a bit overrated. 1 pitch for a save with a 4 run lead.

Well, it was Alverez pinch hitting (then replaced by Weiters to respond to the Javy move), then Reimold (right), then a lefty. IDK, whoever the names were, Romo was looking GREAT, I owuld have just liked to see him finish it off.

As you say though, Bochy will Boch.

I'd be okay with a 2/20 probably too.

He'll have an interesting Giants career to look back upon when it's all done regardless. If he leaves and nets us a pick, I'd say that he was a pretty GD great investment for only giving up a struggling Torres and RamRam and $40M.

I'd rather spend the money on quality bullpen help, and go with Mac/Parker in the OF.

For the 2017 payroll, we are already at $176.7mm after we exercise the team option on Moore, but before we re-sign Casilla, which I assume we will. 2016 San Francisco Giants Current and Future Payrolls | Baseball-Reference.com

Basically, giving a 2/20 to Pagan puts us over the cap for 2017, unless they raise it beyond the $189mm for 2016. I had not heard anything on that.

So unless they raise the cap for 2017, don't expect any major FA signings after we win WSCIV
