With Nunez' speed, it would be 3 nothing if the ball didn't bounce over.

I still don't understand why they wouldn't let him score. Isn't that an umpire's discretion call? One that's never called?

2nd for Panik. In fact, it was the exact situation, just sub Nunez for Pence.

And now it's time for SPan to do the exact same thing

I cannot remember if the rule is a flat, two base progression for the base runner or if the umpire can decide if the runner would have likely scored and send him home.

Nice hit for Span but what's with our runners getting thrown advancing bases? It feels like this has happened a lot in the past month.

Just looked it up. Umpires are only given discretion when the ball is interfered with, and a ground rule double ensues. Traditional ground rule doubles (like Panik's) is a simple two base progression for all runners.

Thank you Marco!:heh:

By the way, why does it seem he only comes around these days when there is a question (or an incorrect understanding) about the rules?

What do you all think? Is Bum done or will Bochy run him out for the 8th inning on 101 pitches?

Hope he's learned his lesson. Peavy and Kontos helped out big time yesterday to make sure everyone else is available tonight.
