49'ers sign Tavon Austin

Shanahan likes to have at least one blazing fast WR and Austin fits that bill for him.

Goodwin was that guy last season but he was traded to the Eagles and Travis Benjamin was supposed to fill that role but he was a Covid opt out so he went with Austin.

Austin never seemed to play as fast as his 40 but maybe Shanahan can get something out of him or maybe he gets cut before the season starts.

The signing that's really flying under the radar for the 9ers is Jordan Reed who if he's right could be a huge addition for them.

Tavon Austin hasn't ever been nor will he ever be a deep threat WR who lines up on the outside like Goodwin or Benjamin.

He was brought in to replace Ritchie James' role not Goodwin's or Benjamin's role.
