Just a rumor but interesting. Two shitty OL and a basically a WR5. At least they are all younger players

Pat F is our starting TE. In Arts offense, that's not moving.

Or Pickens.

It's dumb to think Pitt is going to trade any of its really good young players under cheap deals for the right to sign a really good player to an expensive contract.

There is no reason the Niners should cave in this negotiation. If Aiyuk dogs it this year, that will kill his value in FA (assuming they don’t tag him). He is under contract to the Niners. So his only leverage is a mutually assured destruction nuclear option.

James Daniels, Dan Moore and Calvin Austin III are certainly movable pieces.

Daniels is on the last year of his deal, Moore lost his spot to two successive 1st round picks, and Austin, while useful, would be loseable to get Aiyuk.

And there is a realistic argument to be made that Aiyuk is AT BEST the 9th best player on the roster. Hard to support your 9th best player getting 30M aav.

But why would the Niners agree to that deal? 2 depth pieces to the line and a guy who MIGHT make the roster as a ST gunner?

I dunno. Just pieces they would be willing to part with in addition to picks.

Kinda figured that for awhile now. NE and CLE had offers SF was willing to accept and the extension Aiyuk was looking for...the deal would have been done days ago and it wasn't. He is a damn good player but I found out with OBJ, sometimes better not to trade for the diva

They can have fun with Pickens whiffing on blocks and complaining he is a #2. Good luck with that.

If Pickens starts problems, they can move Roman Wilson to the 2 with Austin III in the slot.

Edit: Just saw that Austin could be in the deal

Gotcha.

But the Niners are in “win now”. They aren’t looking to just liquidate Aiyuk. Scrubs and a pick (even a 1) doesn’t do anything for the Niners.

The way this is playing out, the 49ers have no leverage to get a 1st round pick. If they get a 2nd and some other pieces, even if those pieces arent great, they have more than done their job.

The Diggs trade more or less set the market even if Diggs is longer in the tooth.

The Niners getting a 1 has never been on the table. Not sure where that got introduced to the convo.

Austin was improving last year, had a nice start to the season (and this year in camp by reports). He is small (5'8 170) but should definitely be more than a ST gunner. He is NOT however going to be helping out the OL lol.

Has to be said…

This board really slants pro owner and anti player when we see these contract issues arise.

It’s fascinating to me to see fans become the owners’ mouth pieces. This is the same organization that made a 4+ billion dollar jury award disappear by buying off a judge just last week. Sad.

Right. You want a starter (possibly star-type of player) or two starters and picks. Star player I mean a legit starting OL.

All the rumors coming from CLE were either legit former PB Olineman, Newsome (starting slot CB) or Cooper + picks. They can't accept that trash from PIT

Aiyuk is a bit of a unicorn when it comes to his blocking. That won’t be replaced by any individual.
