But if they don’t offer the Niners a fair deal, it doesn’t matter if they are willing to pay Aiyuk 50M aav guaranteed.
Yeah, that's true. SF isn't negotiating with anyone else but PIT, so they are trying to get the best deal, but it still takes SF agreeing that it's better than nothing.

I think for PIT, as far as giving up assets, they just don't have many tradeable assets that fit the 49ers needs. PIT has those high priced guys that want to keep, or the younger guys on rookie deals. They don't have many of those tradeable pieces that are desirable to other teams.

I am assuming the only WR's SF would be interested in is Wilson or Pickens

Maybe, there is a possibility, but then the money would be fine but from multiple reports, it isn't. And they are lowballing the Niners, which is certainly fair, but over time this won't be a great strategy bc they will just move onto the next team.
But, but, but…

The Niners are morons!

capitulating makes the org look bad, so they need to get a REAL return (not a 1 or anything like that, but more than 2 OL depth pieces and a ST gunner)

FWIW, Antonio Brown forced his way out of Pittsburgh and we had to settle for what looked like a bad deal (3rd and 5th).

But it was really Oakland who got screwed on that, seeing as he didn't even last through camp.

edit: and on top of that Pittsburgh ate 21 million in dead cap.

Not a future 3 and 5 is what I am looking for, but that would be better than 3 backups, one of whole may not even make the team.

If the BEST Pit will offer is something in the neighborhood of a 3 and 5, the Niners will play hardball with Aiyuk and let the cards lay as they fall.

Yeah but in that situation the options was cut Brown or trade him.

The option in this situation is to get one year of service out of Aiyuk (he would have to play) and get the comp pick back when he leaves next offseason (which equals a 2026 3rd round pick) or trade him now.

The idea that what the Steelers are offering is what they get or nothing isnt quite right.

If the 49ers hold their ground, Aiyuk would end up playing this season for them. He literally cant just hold out (he wouldnt be a UFA next year if he holds out for only 3 practices) and he isnt going to fake an injury all season either. 49ers would fight him on it after all this and win. Not to mention it would crater his value a little.

Nobody named Robbie has ever been chosen.

Jesus. Sure.
Donald. Maybe.
Robbie. Never.

For the life of me I can't understand a guy making a bit of a difference between Cleveland and Pittsburgh as it stands now. Not from a football sense and definitely not from a city standpoint.

Yep literally doesn't make sense unless he has a preference for playing for Mike Tomlin or something

You're describing "smart front offices" in the NFL... those teams DON'T capitulate and pay their 9th best player (taking one of the Niners fan's on here word for it) more than the front office thinks they're worth.
Best player, 2nd best player, or 9th best player doesn't come into it. Players want market value, (or more). Multiple teams think Aiyuk is worth $27M+.

Head scratchier for sure especially with the Steelers hiring Arthur Smith who likes running the ball then run some more. Compare that to the 49ers offense where receivers are schemed open. 49ers been to the Superbowl twice in the last 4 years are favored to make it back this season, while the Steelers are rebuilding. It's an ego problem, he couldn't squeeze the max money out of the 49ers so he's pouting.

Yeah, if he wants to win a SB, he has a better chance with what SF has built right now. But I guess that bridge got burned.

Maybe it's the uniforms, shit colored uniforms for CLE.
For NE, I get they aren't winning and have a young QB. Some unknowns.

San Fran is obviously the best place for him and they didn't give him a shit offer. In fact, market value is $27.5M per year and they offered him in the $26-27M per year range I believe. Those are all the details we know.

His panties could be in a wad over that or something else

But he isn’t a FA. So he doesn’t have the leverage of playing the FA game.

That and you're about to retire a stadium built in 1999 that has never hosted a playoff game.
