Exactly why we should be sellers. Its a sellers market like I've never seen.
I hear the White Sox are willing to trade all the furnishings in their stadium, along with every rostered player and any fans that could fetch money in return.Garrett Crochet Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More | Baseball-Reference.com

I don’t follow them very closely but he’s their legit best established pitcher and they are probably dealing him. Not sure pitching is where we should spend our assets in this seller’s market. Let other teams overpay for something we supposedly have enough of when healthy. Would love to get Luis Robert obviouslyGarrett Crochet Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More | Baseball-Reference.com

Crotchet will net them a big return. I agree with you, the Giants shouldn't invest there (but the counter argument would be that the Giants need starting pitching because only Webb seems to stay healthy).I don’t follow them very closely but he’s their legit best established pitcher and they are probably dealing him. I don't know what to think about Robert's likelihood of being traded this year. The White Sox seem hell bent on gutting their roster. But Robert is clearly having a down year, lowering his trade value. Do the White Sox stand ground and not reduce the asking price? Will a team give in to that asking price? Or will the White Sox stand pat and not deal him, considering he has years of control left?
Considering his injuries and his lack of production this year, I'm be concerned about the Giants paying the full price the White Sox likely would want. However, if they are willing to reduce the return considering his troubles, it may be a good get for the Giants. Still not sure, even in that market, we would want to do what it takes to get that trade completed. Other teams would easily outbid and the Giants shouldn't give the full asking price (and then some) if another team wants to overpay.
Yes, Giants will have to pay up in this market for a bat, even if it's not that one. Hopefully they make a good deal for someone, I don't want them to stand pat.Considering his injuries and his lack of production this year, I'm be concerned about the Giants paying the full price the White Sox likely would want. I'm in the middle between you and tzill. I think its too early to decide to sell but I'm not convinced the team should buy either. Based on that MLBTR article I posted, I get the feeling that the team's ownership is in the same mode of thought (but Johnson did say that he defers to FZ on that).Yes, Giants will have to pay up in this market for a bat, even if it's not that one. Well sure, the next few weeks if they keep playing like they did 2 weeks ago and can't get healthy no reason to be buyers. If they play like the last week and are right there in the wild card hunt then, they should buy. Decisions don't have to be made yet.I'm in the middle between you and tzill. The next 6 games are on the road and against very good teams. This should shed some light on just where the Giants are hraded. 3-3 would be acceptable. Anything less wouldn't be a show stopper ... but it would make you stop and wonder..Well sure, the next few weeks if they keep playing like they did 2 weeks ago and can't get healthy no reason to be buyers. How about 2-4, with the losses being close and having bad calls by umps? The next 6 games are on the road and against very good teams. I've been thinking about this. They are 3 games below .500 and need to climb over three teams to get the third WC. They are going on the road vs. two division leaders. The next 6 games are on the road and against very good teams. While I understand the reasoning ... at this stsge of the season a loss is still a loss no matter how it happened. I think ATL has the 1st WC position locked. So we have 5 or more teams fighting for the last 2 WCs. I'm guessimg you will need about 85 wins for one of those positions. That's not an easy reach for us. Not impossible, but not easy either. July will be a very interesting month for us Giant fans ...How about 2-4, with the losses being close and having bad calls by umps?
