Slater just hit a home run against a righty, so I guess he is cured.Matos sure. Slater? Only vs lefties
That’d be great!Slater just hit a home run against a righty, so I guess he is cured.
This numbers mean nothing to me. Just because he has improved does not mean he is anything real. What are those numbers in relation to the league?Brett Wisely has made some nice improvements in terms of quality of contact compared to last year 90.4 MPH EV (85.9 MPH in 2023)
45.3% hard-hit rate (32.9% in 2023)
13.2% barrel rate (7.3% in 2023)
37.7% LA sweep spot rate (31.7% in 2023)
I think the only point here is that he's hitting the ball harder, barreling it up better, and getting the sweet spot of the bat on the ball more frequently. This numbers mean nothing to me. Just because he has improved does not mean he is anything real. What are those numbers in relation to the league?
And I assume “LA sweep spot” is a joke, but when you speak Greek, the accent makes jokes hard to understand.
This is what makes me scratch my head. Estrada does not pass the eye test as being an ELITE defensive 2B. He is good, sure, but FAR from elite. Yet analytics say he is elite. And analytics said that Belt was slightly above average, but the eye test told me he was just south of JT territory.Thairo Estrada is 2nd in baseball with +10 OAA. Only Marcus Semien and Bobby Witt Jr. (+11 OAA apiece) have a better mark in that category.
two things:This is what makes me scratch my head. Estrada does not pass the eye test as being an ELITE defensive 2B. He is good, sure, but FAR from elite. Yet analytics say he is elite. And analytics said that Belt was slightly above average, but the eye test told me he was just south of JT territory.
Belt never recorded a BRef dWAR over 0.4, and has a career dWAR of -3.8. I have never found a defensive metric that matched my eyes, so I don’t really pay attention to them. It seems to me there is too much subjectiveness applied to defensive metrics, so I just can’t get behind them.two things:
1. Estrada makes all the routine to difficult plays almost every time. He also makes some elite plays, but as you say not all the time.
2. Belt was very similar. And I believe the metrics had him well above average.
Hey, is that someone over there on your yard?Belt never recorded a BRef dWAR over 0.4, and has a career dWAR of -3.8. However, I don’t discount the possibility that my eyes are not the best gauge of MLB talent, and maybe Belt wasn’t as good as my orange-tinted glasses made him appear.
But I don’t see a GG-level defender when I see Estrada and I didn’t see one when I saw Panik either.
DAMNED KIDS!!!Hey, is that someone over there on your yard?
That's a name I haven't heard in a long time..... He had an interesting career he was drafted high then became a bust, then did very well in the Bigs and performed at a high level, then became a bust again.Belt never recorded a BRef dWAR over 0.4, and has a career dWAR of -3.8. I honestly don’t really remember him ever being a bust. He advanced aggressively, but I don’t remember being overly shocked by it. He disappeared because he broke his back. That tends to effect a professional athletes career…That's a name I haven't heard in a long time..... Joey Dozens was a legend and I will cut anyone who disagrees.I honestly don’t really remember him ever being a bust. He advanced aggressively, but I don’t remember being overly shocked by it. He disappeared because he broke his back. That tends to effect a professional athletes career…
tzill whenever someone insults Susac or Panik:Joey Dozens was a legend and I will cut anyone who disagrees.
He has quietly become a force in the NL. Glad it was the Giants who finally gave him a chance for regular play in MLB.Ramos currently leads all NL outfielders in WAR, according to Baseball-Reference.

Imagine if you will if he didn't get his Chance here and him going to a rival whether in Division or like Stl. or other hated rivals. He has quietly become a force in the NL. Glad it was the Giants who finally gave him a chance for regular play in MLB.
