Go Army!
Definitely could be a strategy of taking a bit more risk in tomorrow's battle in order to stand a better chance in the remaining war.Well I think Mike might be playing the long game and the war of attrition. With 17 games now, players are getting more banged up than ever and instead of rushing them back I'm wondering if Mike is saying, "Nah, take an extra week. Let's make sure you're 100%."
He could PROBABLY march Mafe, Nwosu, and Williams out there tomorrow evening, but at what cost? Then you have a short week against the Giants, and an even shorter week to follow with the 9ers... so you bring Mafe/Williams/Nwosu out there let's say, at 75%... they either stay at 75% or get more banged up (or a bigger injury)... well wtf good did that do? Not to mention even if the entire front 7 was healthy, the Lions would still be insanely tough since a) they have a beast OL - yes Ragnow is out but still, b) the rest of their team is pretty much good to go.
Not saying Mike is throwing in the towel tomorrow, but you gotta think a little longer term. When asked if he was concerned about all the injuries on D, he basically said, "No... it gives guys an opportunity and let's them step up." He didn't seem that bothered by it. We'll get a real good look tomorrow night at what his system is all about and it will be interesting to see how the backups picked it up.
