Yeah, he had four quarterback pressures and a sack. I’ll take that every day from my interior line.
Carter will get some pressures and a few sacks but he isn't very good in run defense from what I've seen. I'll admit that I haven't watched that closely though. Of course, that is often more of a group effort up front and as a group, Philly has been atrocious in run D. Like Seahawk bad the last couple of years. And not having anybody on the edge that can get pressure, Carter would have to play like Aaron donald to have any real impact. And that ain't happening, imo.

The DL still has a little work to do (Murphy/Hankins/Reed) but one thing is certain is Williams is playing out of his f'ing mind so far. I pray for this man to stay healthy....

Any hip drop penalties so far? I haven't seen a single one yet in any game Lots of hand-wringing about this during the off-season...

I think those tackles honestly are pretty rare anyway but no, I haven't seen any called. Maybe the refs are distracted throwing so many flags on the illegal formation. Lol.

A bit of a rough start for ol' Waldron in Chicago. Last in yards per play, tied for last in offensive TDs (3). They have zero run game, and the passing isn't much better. I know they have a youngster at QB, but they're pathetic so far.

They need to not be playing hero ball. They're putting too much on Williams and trying to run a singleback formation and Williams simply can't pick up the protection cues because he never had to in College. Waldron is playing him like a veteran QB and that just wont work in the NFL.

I get it... you have basically the best WR core in the NFL and the OL is not bad... they were okay last year... but Waldron is expecting WAY too much out of Caleb. He came from a school that was giving him a TON of time to throw the ball. Not happening in the NFL. I don't hate Waldron, but I don't think he knows quite how to adjust. Grubb we'll see on and I know your post isn't about Grubb but if Williams/Murphy are both out, we're going to need some serious offense (no more mistakes) next weekend.

Oh yeah, there's no doubt we are in for some trouble if we cannot improve the OL situation. I don't care how how much talent you have at the skill positions or if you have Norv Turner as OC.... you're going to get handled if you can't block without holding.

We just brought Matt Gotel back to the practice squad (big NT that was originally a UDFA back in 2022 that Seattle took). No official update on Murphy/Williams yet but that might be telling that they could miss some time with bringing Gotel in.

Heard Murphy and Williams both day to day so we will have to wait and see. Ribs and hammy could be a quick recovery or linger a bit. Hankins and Reed will likely have to carry the bulk of the load. The good news is that Nwosu is supposed to practice this week so maybe we get him back for the Lions.

I really hope Williams' rib injury is minor enough that he can maybe wear a flack jacket and take something for the pain and play. Especially with the Lions center Ragnow having a torn pec. Ragnow not listed as out yet but I'm not sure how he can play or even be as good with that type of injury. Probably best to be cautious with Murphy's injury. Hammy's can be tricky. But if we can get Nwosu back on the field, we have some more options for the middle.
The Lions have serious injuries on their defense too so hopefully our offense can do enough to put the ball in Goff's hands. Hoping for another big game from Hall and Mafe and if Nwosu is back, rotate those guys. And if we can get any push up the middle, we can rattle Goff and maybe create some mistakes.

OOF, sounds like Mafe, Williams, Nwosu, Murphy are all out... Jeebus. We need a big step up from Jones and basically whoever the else can throw in there. This is pretty bad. Baker is also prob. out.

I mean if we win this game, WOW... but I'm 100% expecting a loss.

Going to need the offense to keep them in the game. Lions top 5 rushing team are going to try to run it down the Seahawks throat. On the other side Lions strong against the rush but can be thrown on. Need Geno to be on point this game.

Derick Hall will need another big game. Reed and Hankins will need to carry the load up front and have to hope Dre'mont Jones makes some noise. But I can also see MacDonald bringing some stuff out of the bag for this one. We have yet to go completely all out on defense because of our competition so this might be the week he gets really creative. Next man up though, no excuses. Gotta tackle and fill the gaps and limit the Lions run game for sure. If we can put the ball in Goff's hands and create some confusion, we might be able to force him into a mistake or two which could be the difference. I think our corners and safeties and our scheme matches up well with the Lions WRs. I don't think we can expect another shut down performance of less than 150 yds passing but I do think we can limit the damage somewhat.
I think our offense will move the ball and Walker is back which is huge. Expecting this to be a shoot-out again just like the last 2 years. Lions are down some guys too and Geno thrives in the dome and vs. man coverage which the Lions mostly use. I hope to see some quick hitters to the RBs on the wings in this one. Get the ball in K9's hands in space with some open field and I think he could do some damage. A lot of concern about out Oline and rightfully so, especially the guard play. A lot of talk about Forsythe being our 3rd string RT but that honestly is not my concern. He actually played well last week and last year, he actually played really well vs. Hutchinson. But I can see Hutchinson lining up opposite Bradford or Tomlinson or stunting to there and that will mean our RBs have to help out in pass pro. Or have motion from our TEs to help out. Hutchinson is the Lions only real pass rush threat but he is a game wrecker so Grubb and Geno will need to know where he is at all times and figure out a plan.

Holy cow. Those are all game changers. Depths gonna have to step up. Offense is going to have to put at least 30 points up.

Detroits starting center is out for the game so that should help a little bit

I feel like we need to win this game. Especially, if the tiebreaker determines a playoff spot. Detroit could be the team were tied with for a postseason spot

Certainly every game has significance when you only play 17 in a season, but 3-1 is a successful start if that's what we are after Monday. If this ends up being a tie-breaker game that keeps us out of the playoffs, it means we dropped too many somewhere else anyway. And I can't really agree that playoffs are the standard/expectation in year 1 of Coach Mac when we missed last year and haven't won more than 9 games since 2020.

Well I think Mike might be playing the long game and the war of attrition. With 17 games now, players are getting more banged up than ever and instead of rushing them back I'm wondering if Mike is saying, "Nah, take an extra week. Let's make sure you're 100%."

He could PROBABLY march Mafe, Nwosu, and Williams out there tomorrow evening, but at what cost? Then you have a short week against the Giants, and an even shorter week to follow with the 9ers... so you bring Mafe/Williams/Nwosu out there let's say, at 75%... they either stay at 75% or get more banged up (or a bigger injury)... well wtf good did that do? Not to mention even if the entire front 7 was healthy, the Lions would still be insanely tough since a) they have a beast OL - yes Ragnow is out but still, b) the rest of their team is pretty much good to go.

Not saying Mike is throwing in the towel tomorrow, but you gotta think a little longer term. When asked if he was concerned about all the injuries on D, he basically said, "No... it gives guys an opportunity and let's them step up." He didn't seem that bothered by it. We'll get a real good look tomorrow night at what his system is all about and it will be interesting to see how the backups picked it up.
