I mean all the teams that were all in on Chychrun and lost out should be acting this way.

Let's not forget Hextall got a player with a larger contract w/o any money going back to the other team. :L

Just read that Detroit is retaining 50% on Bertuzzi.
Geez that seems like a huge steal for Bertuzzi then.

And Hextall didn't get any cap retention. :L

I am not saying this is a bad move for Detroit in the long run, but I don't get what they are doing. It's like they are giving up on the playoffs this year when they are in the thick of it and nothing energizes a franchise like a surprise playoff appearance. If they somehow snuck into the 7 spot...who knows what could happen. Maybe even a first round upset. Anything can happen in sports.

Amazing how two back-to-back lopsided losses against Ottawa have impacted the decisions the Wings have made. In the long run though, I think this is the right move. Yzerman has cobbled together some good young players and they look to have a bright future.
