I have watched basketball for the last 30 plus years.

There is absolutely nothing that I could read that would change my opinion that Pop is a top 5 NBA Coach of all time.

* I actually have him #3 *

Maybe if Jesus wrote it.

Maybe.

Jesus had him ranked #7. Penalized him for not treating sideline reporters with more compassion

Wood would be looking for big minutes, for a big payday next year.

I mean, Lakers would give him maximum EXPOSURE.

So, maybe.

But, I would be really surprised..

He should go to a team like the Heat.

He could play the 4.

Maybe the Suns?

I wish he wanted to play for the Clippers.

Yeah, all things considered, he would be something of a "luxury" for the Lakers.

But I'm a greedy bastard and want them to get him anyway. lol

In the vast internet wasteland you can find almost anything to back up almost any opinion.

BTW, you're wrong on Pop.

I’m not. If they fired him like that article said he’d be as relevant as his predecessor was

Yeah, @The Q take on Pop sounds a lot like what people say when they want to criticize Phil. "Oh, I'd be a great coach too if I got to coach MJ, Pippen, Shaq and Kobe".

They like to say "He never won a title without at least 1of them", but ignore that, outside of Shaq, none of them won a title without him and Shaq got his playing for Riley.

Thank GAWD you typed this so I didn’t have to….lol

This was exactly what I was thinking.

I do understand how outside things can affect your opinion.

Look at Colby Covington.

People are so fucking triggered by his shtick that they completely ignore the fact that he’s one of the best welterweights in the UFC.

Still don’t think he can beat Usman.

But, I’m taking him and that damn cardio over Mr. Headshot DEAD.

I only know one thing, if you struggle in your first summer league game then you can draw complete conclusions about that players career.

It is literally the most important game of every players career.
anthony Bennett agrees and is shocked he never got a max deal.

Who is 2?
Unfortunately, Dr. Phil.

Dude was a coach, therapist, hypnotist and master manipulator all rolled up into one.

Meshing all those personalities couldn’t have been easy.

I don’t have him better at D’Souza and o’s.

But, his intangibles are impressive.

Also, His rings give him the nod for me.

Red is #1 in the NBA, Wooden is #1 across all sports and leagues.

He is a generational talent already.

What you are saying is that you don’t think he will be anywhere near as good as what people are projecting.

In other words, that you don’t think he will realize his talent in the NBA.
I mean, it is fair for someone's view of a generational talent to be he needs to live up to the hype or at least come close.

He really is though.

LeBron was more hyped because he was American.

But if Wemby and LeBron are both 18 years old and in the same draft class?

Wemby goes 1.
Man, that's a stretch to be one of your opinion stated as fact comments.

And that very well may be the case.

You are projecting that he won’t end up being as good as people think. You might be right.

Saying he is a “generational talent” is not a projection of any sort. It is an assessment of upside based on the tools that he has.

I am not saying he will be a great player for sure.

What I am saying is that there has never been a player with his set of tools to play in the league. And if he stays healthy and works hard, he will be special because of his insane talent.

He might not get there.

Talent is a reflection of potential, not anything more. Lots of people waste talent for one reason or another and come up short.
This is how you see it. doesn't mean others must see it as you do. For me, he needs to live up to the hype or at least come close.

First actual definition when searching seems to agree with how I see it (but doesn't make me right.

I think where things can get convoluted is in generational talent vs. generational player.

A player can have generational talent and not become a generational player.

A player can also become a generational player despite not being considered to have generational talent.

Coming out of high school, Lebron was considered a generational talent. He also became a generational player.

When he came out of Virginia, Ralph Sampson was considered a generational talent. He did not become a generational player.

Coming out of high school, only Jerry West saw Kobe as a generational talent, but he became a generational player.

Wemby is considered a generational talent because we haven't seen a guy who is 7'3" do the things he can do on the floor.

But, as we saw in that 1st game, he has work to do if he wants to go from generational talent to generational player.
