What they should have done, if they didn’t want to take another guard was trade down.

Pretty sure they could have gotten Bennet at 5 or 6 if that is who they were set on.

And who knows. Maybe they trade down far enough that nobody they like is there and they decide to take a chance on some lanky athletic kid from Greece.

The bold...that's just mean. lol

Dj has only agreed that Bennett was a bad pick that I have seen. And DJ is a solid poster imo.
He tried to say my logic on the matter was off and I've pretty much mirrored yours here.

Terrible pick and not much else. The rest is just guessing.

That would be crazy if signed for the minimum. Would love for the Cavs to sign him
Insane. And he will be motivated to get paid next summer.

If the Lakers luck into him as we still could use a big? Oh boy.

Y'all in here seriously debating fucking Anthony Bennett?

Chill.

Go grill a hot dog and blow up some fire works.

Not debating Bennett. We all agree on him. We are arguing imaginary trade options....way different.

For sure...guessing we have no way to go above minimum at this point.
I thought the Cavs had 4M left for the MLE. Niang took up around 8M but I believe that also takes them into the luxury tax. They would have to cut Sam Merrill

Because Dame wants one team only that team has all the leverage. Portland either takes a weak deal or trades him where he doesn't want to go.

It's interesting that we're all on here talking about how the Blazers don't have to send Dame where he wants to go, but based on past precedent, that's exactly where he's going to end up.

When was the last time a star demanded to be traded to a specific team and didn't end up there? The closest I can think of was Kawhi who wanted LA, but had to spend 1 season winning a title in Toronto before ending up in...LA.

Mecca pointed this out earlier.

Leonard and PG both wanted the Lakers.

But since? KD and Beal both wanted the Suns, most recently. Irving wanted the Lakers, but went to the Mavs.

This is what I said.

Ok, so this post is mis worded by me.

Not what I meant to say, at least not the part about getting Bennett at 5 which seems to be the sticking point.

Would have been best case scenario if someone else had drafted Bennett because he sucked.

The one and only point that matters is that drafting Bennett at 1 was a horrible, and avoidable mistake.
